Evil Jin Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 could you make it so that when bombs or bulletts hit eachother that they explode on contact and produce shrapnel every where? thatd be more realistic and fun. so if your outa repel just try to use a bomb to destroy it.
Femme Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 I guess it would be possible but it would take a fair amount of programming on Priits part and we know how long that takes. Not to mention it would alter the game mechanics tremendously, which would probably put a fair number of people off playing (unless it was an on/off server setting)
Evil Jin Posted August 15, 2003 Author Report Posted August 15, 2003 so basically it would have to actualy wait tilll like .42 to program all of that?
»CypherJF Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 I have a feelin not much more is going to be done w/ Continuum. I mean only 2 fixes for a brand new version number... I mean comon... I'm greatful though that Priitk has continued to work on the project but ... yea... - CypherJF
Guest Liddo-Kun Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 If only .39 can support MP3's and other sound files so the file sizes in lvzs would be smaller... also, allowing server.cfg to skip a line so lvz's in the end of LevelFiles= wouldn't be missed: ex:LevelFiles=blue2.lvz,thirdparty.lvz,menu.lvz,bongmp3s.lvz,googoo.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,etc001.lvz,Command=...etc Also, the programmer should add:... ship#_setting=valueship#_sound.typeship#_graphic.type examples:ship1_gundamagelevel=50ship1_gundamageupgrade=5ship3_burstdamagelevel=55ship4_burstdamagelevel=5 ship2_bomb.gifship3_bomb.gif etc... MP3s = better musicMIDI Supportetc..!!!! ^_^;;
Mr Ekted Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Use smaller LVZ file names to keep the line shorter.
»CypherJF Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Use smaller LVZ file names to keep the line shorter. wow that's been the best tip over... lol... jk just messin'.. Thanks Mr Ekted for all you're help w/ continuum also.. - cypherjf
Guest Liddo-Kun Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 I do use 001.lvz or so, but I tend to forget which lvz is which! Can you expand it so it'll be easier using main_graphics.lvz / upgrmain_graphics.lvz? Thanks
Yupa Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 what I usually do is like first letter (or two) for zone name, then one maybe two letters to describe what the contents are so, say I was making a .lvz for TW for replacements graphics, I'd call the .lvz something like "twg.lvz" for replacements bong sounds, I'd use something like "twb.lvz" "tws.lvz" for replacement sounds "twc.lvz" for replacement commands.hlp etc to remember which .lvz's I intended for optional download, I usually put a "+" in the name like "tws+.lvz" so I remember so it'll end up like misc:levelfiles=+tws+.lvz

I'm greatful though that Priitk has continued to work on the project but ... yea... - CypherJF This isn't stricly speaking a brand new version number. It's a pre-release version. These pre-release versions of CTM have always been avaliable to certain people prior to the public release of the version, but in this particular case it's avaliable publicly in order to stop people whining about the prox bug, which needed fixing quickly. The full version of .39 will eventually come out, and no doubt with other changes/fixes. I do however agree that we probably won't see too many more changes in the future.
Guest Liddo-Kun Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 i know that lvzs can be used as aa1.lvz - aab.lvz, but it can have a limit of lvzs due to the namesizes.if the LVZs could be unlimited (so we can have pubship1.lvz, arena_elimship1.lvz, etc), then the zone would be able to update small files easily without letting the players download BIG files at a time. let's say that i have ships.lvz with ships.bm2 / rolls - I would have to re-make the LVZ again if I wanted to update a certain graphic which annoys those who keep downloading big files! also, if the lvz names were unlimited, then the people who plan their lvz's correctly can save their server's bandwidth! file sizes would be at the minimum and the players of the zone would have less complaints about *updates*! -----oh - another suggestion for server.ini: if you can allow owners to have "certain" arenas using server.cfg ex: selected arenas will use server.cfg instead of their own cfgShareServer=#lvztests,conquer,world_mu,world_le,world_gf>> i am suggesting this so LVZ files won't be messed up when creating certain arenas Also arenas.txt where the Values of %arena would be equal to the name of the current arena you are in:Public 0=%zonenameelim=%zonename - Elimination Arena - "I win, you lose"ex: for arena "elim", the welcome message is "%arena" where it checks ARENA.txt to produce:"[server] [zonename] - Elimination Arena - "I win, you lose"" another suggestion: to allow CFG files to have variablesex: "Welcome %entered to [zone]!"ex: "Welcome! The current jackpot is %jackpot"%freq, %flags(how many are left/needed?)%arena - (for arenas.txt?) ----- one more thing: how do you make certain people to be a sysop in your arena (only)? the +playername:arena doesn't work in sysop.txt T_T - Liddo-Kun

»SOS Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 If only PriitK at least shared the server hack's source At least something useful could be accomplised with that.
Evil Jin Posted August 17, 2003 Author Report Posted August 17, 2003 ummm.... all i wanted to know was if you could make it so that you can sett in server.cfg in the future that if bombs hit bombs and bullets hit bullets that they could destroy eachother and send shrapnel every where.
Yupa Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 it can be done, yes, but you have to understand that at this point there is only one person coding most of the game client (PriitK) - so obviously things take a while and he's still developing more useful things (like the recent support for more image formats) I guess what I'm saying is don't hold your breath you've suggested it, that's all you can do
Evil Jin Posted August 17, 2003 Author Report Posted August 17, 2003 yea ok. priitk should get help tho if hes doin most of the coding
