sanka Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I just got DSL, and since then I have a little problem with Alt-Tab. I can Alt-Tab out just fine, but when I try to get back in Cont "stalls" for a few seconds, and when i get in, I get the DC message. Any ideas whats up? Quote
Mr Ekted Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 It's possible that it takes so long to load all the gfx files that you timeout. Are you running Cont 8-bit or higher? Does this happen in all zones, or just a zone with lots of custom gfx? Quote
Yupa Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 are you using .39pr1? it's a new bug...erm, I mean "feature" with .39pr1 Quote
Guest Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Happens in all zones. Running it on 8-bit 1600x1200, and have .39. Just started happening since I got DSL, was fine last week... Quote
Yupa Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 honestly I think it has more to do with .39pr1 than your connection Quote
»SOS Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Turn on the debug log (ssdebug.log) by activating caps lock and scroll lock before you run Continuum. Then go out and back in and let it DC you. After that, exit Continuum and paste the log file into a post. Quote
sanka Posted September 20, 2003 Author Report Posted September 20, 2003 Log file was rather large, but here's the important last part where I got DC. I Alt-tabbed out and in once just fine, the second time got me DC. 18:32:56 STaskout 1->018:33:11 STaskout 0->118:33:13 DirectDraw: Surfaces restored18:33:13 Reloading graphics18:33:15 Reloading sounds18:33:24 STaskout 1->018:34:34 STaskout 0->118:34:37 DirectDraw: Surfaces restored18:34:37 Reloading graphics18:34:42 Reloading sounds18:34:42 WARNING: Disconnected from server 4 118817118:34:45 DirectDraw: Uninit18:34:45 DirectDraw: RestoreDisplayMode18:34:47 DirectDraw: Releasing clipper18:34:47 DirectDraw: Releasing palette18:34:47 DirectDraw: Releasing master palette18:34:47 DirectDraw: Releasing back buffer18:34:47 DirectDraw: Releasing primary surface18:34:47 DirectDraw: Setting normal cooperation level18:34:47 DirectDraw: Releasing direct draw object18:34:51 Display init18:34:51 DirectDraw: Creating Direct draw object18:34:51 DirectDraw: Enum modes18:34:51 DirectDraw: 48 modes found18:34:51 Loading menu18:34:52 Asking setup18:34:56 DirectDraw: Uninit18:34:56 DirectDraw: Setting normal cooperation level18:34:56 DirectDraw: Releasing direct draw object Quote
Yupa Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 it should only be a problem if you have a lot running aside from Continuum (possibly also if you are alt+tab'ed for a VERY LONG time) Quote
»SOS Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 Hmm, well it takes 8 seconds to task in and most zones have the kickoff at 5 seconds. Try lowering the resolution, that might speed DirectX surface creation up a little bit. Background programs causing this are doubtful (unless on 9x/me), because they normally run at normal prioty and an active app always has 0.5 steps higher priority than its setting. (Unless priority has been set to background programs in the system proeprties) Quote
Yupa Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 I'm telling you, it happened MUCH less often with .38 Quote
sanka Posted September 24, 2003 Author Report Posted September 24, 2003 OK, kinda found out a little to help. If I click on a person playing, then minimize and restore, then type in chat, I can get in ok. Have to do all of those things though, or it doesn't work... Quote
