FatalGAmer Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 This has been happening to most of my computers lately. i don't know if its because of windows xp service pack. On my laptop i have a geforce 6800 go, and when i go into continuum when i try to click the top menu any of them it will either freeze or the menu wont display untill i go down over the options and they appear. But this messes up my whole computer because the rest of the computer is like that. I have all updates latest drivers and no spyware. This has been happening to my desktop to. I don't know why. But half the time it just freezes.
Bargeld Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Are you using a skin or theme for windows? I've seen that cause this problem. Remove the windows XP theme/skin.
Guest Guest_FatalGAmer_* Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 No i am not... Its deff windows xp service pack 2 though. Continuum always works fine for me when i dont put this on any of my computers... just wondering if there is any way to fix it or anything.
»Purge Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Perhaps Service Pack 2 is not letting it run for any reason. Try and see if your firewall is not allowing Continuum.exe to run.
candygirl Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 If xp's firewall is on you may need to add the game. 1. Go to windows security center2.click on windows firewall3.Go to exceptions 4. There you will see a link to addprograms (There you will see a list of programs. If the game is not in this list click on browse to find it. I think you can do the rest your self.
Bargeld Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 this is not firewall related... maybe this helps:http://www.ssforum.net/c/index.php?showtopic=7442
FatalGAmer Posted July 16, 2005 Author Report Posted July 16, 2005 No that didn't help. I have to right click and do run as but it saves no settings at all! When i click it it doesn't pop up. The hour gl!@#$%^&* shows and if i view the tasks it shows continuum.exe appearing and dissapearing. I dont have style xp or anytihng. Just regular windows xp service pack two. no firewal, disabled anti virus. Everything. It just sucks.
candygirl Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 I dont have style xp or anytihng. Just regular windows xp service pack two. no firewal, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> service pack two comes with a update for the xp firewall, and yes if your using xp you do have a firewall. Its part of the OS for windows.
FatalGAmer Posted July 17, 2005 Author Report Posted July 17, 2005 ok guys i figured it out. When i have norton antivirus n ot start at all the game works. It's a norton 2005 problem. I added it to the list fo programs that it accepts and everything. Thanks guys. Maybe this will help other people that have a problem like this.
FatalGAmer Posted July 18, 2005 Author Report Posted July 18, 2005 Ok so i was wrong, when i uninstalled it did work, but now it is back to not working again. Each time i ahve to restart, and when i do is says the .dll failed to instalize because windows is shutting down. So i have no idea what the problem is...
Bargeld Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 sigh, i answered that on another post within the last month... Basically continuum sits in the background starting and shuttin down over and over again. When you go to shut down windows, it evenually is "shutting down" while continuum is "trying to load" and thus it throws an error. Please be aware that using the "run as" is not a 100% solution, it is a workaround which has KNOWN failings.
