So i hear they'll be talking about Kioto treaty, Africa (and the third world here). BUT do you think anything will come out of it or are the leaders of the worlds 8 richest nations going to be stubborn and not budge on what they want for their countires. I personally think not much good will come out for climate change but Africa looks brighter.

Also someone please mention something about the security arrangements i love the idea of men with guns and big long fences and gaurd dogs. laugh.gif

It was hard to argue with her. For every resident in Auchterarder, there are at least two police officers.

Locals joke about it being the safest place in Britain at the moment, but the reality is that there is a sense of nervousness here.

Police have encouraged traders in the town to stay open but some have ignored that advice. They are concerned about a protest march planned here for Wednesday. Organisers say up to 5,000 people are expected.

The security around the summit venue is immense. The most visible sign is a five-mile long steel fence but there are many other measures, both seen and unseen.

Thats the best i could get on security...

I think they voted to increase aide. I personally think they are too generous on this. Most of the time when we give money out, it ends up being "protection fees" to the local warlords who just use them to buy guns. What we really should do is figure out who stole the money and "reposses" that capital...then we should help the poor again.

I disagree. I think most aid ends up where it is needed.

I agree. But it probably isn't that easy.

One of the best ways to support the thirld world is to remove agricultural subsidies that encourage rich countries to over-produce and ruin third world economies that rely on primary production. Each year, much more aid is given to European and US farmers in the form of subsidies than is given to thrird world countries.
