Guest Dad Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Would be cool if news.txt would show a specifique page on the internet, you can either specify a location on the net or can create an html file. It will be way much more easy because there will be colours, links and stuff like that. Just an idea, I imagine something like this would be very easy and possible to do.
Ancient Power Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 lol html has some flaws so that the news.txt can easily be used to crashed computers
madhaha Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Html hasn't got flaws. Crap browsers do. I think there is already a feature to add links like the zone's webpage. What you're looking for is a way of adding more pages perhaps? I think thats availible already but I'm not certain.
Yupa Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 could always use something like forum code would allow coloring, formatting, etc
madhaha Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I was going to mention that but I think its unecessary. You just need to neut out unallowed tags by converting all <>'s to > < then selectively changing back the ones you deem legal i.e. etc.
madhaha Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Of course it'd suck because you wouldn't be able to have images unless the server has to send Those as well. Could be quite a big download. Best off putting a simple link in the menu.
mister manners Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 kiss (keep it simple -*BAD WORD*-heads)
ExplodyThingy Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 Well, people have a flair for excessive graphics. Theyll end up making it look like some website. Anyway, simple stuff like in F1 would probably be feasable.
madhaha Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 But why have this? Ascii is fine. If you are really having readability issues then MAYBE colours would be good but do we really need tables, list structures, images, embedded movies and all the rest of this rubbish? Isn't a link to the zone website good enough?
ExplodyThingy Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 I would prefer a monospaced character set tho.
Dr Brain Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Tables and lists would be nice, yes. Yea, it would be great if the news file used Courier instead of Ariel (or whatever it does use).
»SOS Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 It uses MS Sans Serif. Really nasty, can't line up anything
