Guest bp808 Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 When changing arenas i always get put into specator modeIt annoys me. How do i change it back so i can arrive in my ship and not in spec mode??
»Maverick Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Do you get a (green) message why you were put in spec? What I think is that happens is that you get put in spectator because of No Data when entering the arena. This is usually caused by a slow computer that has to load alot of stuff when entering the arena (level, lvz) and doesn't send any data when doing so. If this takes too long (hence the slow computer) you get put into spectator for No Data.
Bargeld Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 You might also be entering an arena with a bot that is running some sort of match or game. These bots will typically *spec anyone who enters the arena, in order to keep gameplay uninterrupted.
»SOS Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 In case there is any confusion, the former answers would in summary mean "can't be done"
»Maverick Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 well, not really. If the problem is caused by something that can be removed then the problem can be "solved"
»SOS Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 And since the only think that can spec you on entering is that if the settings say so. Well, I guess a slow computer or horrible lag or something like that can cause a spike spec at arena-change but that's veeeeeeeeeeeeery unlikely.
Paine Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 I think it's in the settings of the zone... remember ship or somthing along those lines -- back in 5 mins, checking. MISC: Allow saved ships.----oh well.
Kameloh Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 It could be one or more of the following reasons: Lag (Downloading map)BotSettings (Start in Spectator (when entering arena)) ... Isn't allow saved ships just the player's score?
»SOS Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Saved ships is a broken feature that should be forgotten and purged from every memory on the planet. Basically, it's a pause-mode for the game. More or less. It used to work but not since about 8 years ago
»Maverick Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 We have it enabled in 17th Parallel - it allows players that lag out to get back in with exactly what they had (specials , ?buy specials, bounty). However, players can use the same trick to save a ?buy special for later on. (.?buy > fly to save > ?go subarena > Exit)
»SOS Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 I thought it totally borked on arena-changes? Or maybe it was fixed in some version secretly...?
Samapico Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 it works perfectly... but it's not enabled anymore in 17th mmav... (unless it has been reenabled lately) ... it should be reenabled though
Guest bp808 Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Hey guys thanks for the commentsI dont have a slow computerand whenever i enter a zone i use wband i play in extreme games any other reasons why when i change arena that i go to spec?and if so how can i change it??and for some odd reason when i enter extreme games dueli start in my ship but in public arenas i start in spec
Bargeld Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 it allows you to take bounty from arena to arena.. You can go to a dueling or 2v2 sub arena and start with 200 bnty, then go to pub from safety and start with that 200. Our start bounty in pub is 50, so thats obviously not acceptable. I miss using this feature, too:[Misc] > AllowSavedShips=1
»Maverick Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 not only bounty, also the specials you had/have
Dav Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 if i remember correctly there is an option in the settings to make a player enter in spec, probably that.
Samapico Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 It doesn't take the specials/bounty you have to another arena.... It saves the specials/bounty you have in pub when you change arena, and gives them back to you when you come back.... it works fine and i also get specced most of the time when entering arena because of no data or high latency... allowsavedships puts you back in your ship after everything's loaded...
