craigg Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Maybe PriitK could add a minor drag&drop system... In windowed mode you could drop a file onto the client and it would simply spit *putfile [dropped file] to the chat window and initiate the transfer. This would also require the ability to use directories beyond the current working dir.. ie: C:somethingsomethingsome.lvz. Thanks,Craig
CeinWyN MaN+ Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 whats the point when you can just type *putfile blah.lvz, or if your host has any common sense ask him to setup an FTP account for you and upload through there...? waste of time
craigg Posted September 16, 2003 Author Report Posted September 16, 2003 The amount of effort(time) this actually requires to develop would not be a "waste of time". Let's say your host does not provide access via ftp, and you are working on a large project doing rapid changing, updating, and testing. Not that it can't be typed out, it's just a lot easier if you could drag&drop to upload. That's all.
CeinWyN MaN+ Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 yes but its not necessary, theres loads more other stuff that'd come on any developers list of updates before this.

It's hard to believe you could have access to a network and be running Continuum and not have access to a real ftp client. Also between "drag and drop" and simply using a command prompt, a command prompt will always be the fastest way. ...but I digress - nothing wrong with the suggestion
mister manners Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 nothing wrong when u can type *putfile porn.mpeg rather than alt tabbing, whoch on other systems, is laggy, and some might even lagout ! then u gotta open the "My Computer", find the file, then drag it, waste!
»Dustpuppy Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 What if the file isn't in your continuum directory? You have to alt tab, browse to the file, then find your continuum dir, copy the file across, and then *putfile. Drag&drop would save time in this case.
Guest A Lamer Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Which is the entire point craigg was making. Perhaps not the drag and drop, but certainly directory use. like *putfile D:Program Fileszonegraphicsdumpsamuraisam.lvl obviously that would be a little more type work, but it would be considerably more useful, and it would also be great if the server could upload all "legal" filetypes (*.lvz, *.lvl, *.bm2 etc) from a dir (*putbatch d:zonefiles)
Dr Brain Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 What happens when you use ASSS, and the command isn't putfile anymore, or even better, you want to send the file with ?sendfile to a friend?

Guest A Lamer Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 and anybody that actually puts all their stuff into program files is a l00b anyways it was an example dir
Yupa Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 just saying that it shouldn't be much typing because long friggin' paths like that shouldn't be used in the first place
