The Apache Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Customizable fonts, improved chat features (fonts, colours etc) Also, if you are moderator, smod or sysop - A history .txt of who you have banned/silenced/speclocked and for how long you have done that. ^.^ -gs
GENERAL_SLAYER Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 only a small amount of text to chose from tho lp street cuz it will be annoying if ppl make coose fonts you cant even read. -GS
BG Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 only a small amount of text to chose from tho lp street cuz it will be annoying if ppl make coose fonts you cant even read. -GS<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Could probably make it from client to client what you want.(Or make it an option) I.E. Someone sets what they want (Font, Colors, Etc) and that's how everything shows up to them, and only them.
Bak Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 you can customize fonts through lvz, just override the default font graphic. *getfile custom save locations (and write locations) are already in ASSS. Keeping zone owners in control can be done through ASSS. the history can be done (and I'm pretty sure has been) through ASSS.
»Maverick Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Notice this topic is only about client-side, not server side
»SOS Posted May 27, 2005 Author Report Posted May 27, 2005 Server-side is very ok with me. Anything related to the game, even. !@#$%^&*, map editor suggestions are welcome too.
BG Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 !@#$%^&*, map editor suggestions are welcome too.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> An ability to copy a section of tiles, rotate to your liking, (Or just 90 degrees at a time) and put it on a different part of the map.(If it's on SSME, I can't see it..)
»SOS Posted May 27, 2005 Author Report Posted May 27, 2005 Well, SSME can't really rotate tiles since the tiles would not match up graphically when in rotated form. But yeah, a smarter editor could do this
candygirl Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Have the lvz and map editor built in to the game or server. And have it so you can update LVZ/ Map editor.
candygirl Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Id like to see a control panel on the server side. This is where you have settings all your maps and staff names. It will make it more ez to change maps add staff play with or change settings. It would be better then up loading diff files all the time, you can do it all on your control panel.
Paine Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 bring back savedships=1 Asteroids that actually moveA little floating number (turn off/on) by a player's ship -- freq #

Choose the font, from the fonts folder on your computer. Change the colour of the background, hide the player list, etc.
BG Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 Asteroids that actually move This reminds me. Stellar Frontier has alot of good features, and although I'm not just gonna say "copy everything from Stellar Frontier," You could look there if your Ideas dry up a bit.
»SOS Posted May 28, 2005 Author Report Posted May 28, 2005 What is stellar frontier? Could you list some of its outstanding features?
BG Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 Stellar Frontier is a game very similar to Continuum, although it's player base is about 12. *Streamlined upgrade system (sort of). All your current weapons/engines/whatever levels can be found by hitting "S" Which switches the upper right into the status screen. When docked at a space station, you double click on whatever you want to upgrade, select the upgrade, and you're set. This is also how Stellar Frontier handles it's mul!@#$%^&*ude of weapons - each ship has a certain "weight" limit, and a certain amount of weapons tubes. A ship cannot go over the weight limit, but you can downgrade things (and get a refund for them) thus lowering your weight, and allowing you to get better weapons. The weakest ship in the game - frieghter - has 1 weapon tube. If you set all of the other ship's sytems to level 1, you can hold the best weapon in the game on it. This way, "Elite"-ists can figure out how to maximize each ships potential. *Working Gravity / orbits. There's a star in the middle. Planets revolve around the star. Your ship, when flying near planets, gets dragged towards them. The star has much higher gravity, but also kills you when you get near it. You need to constantly adjust if you want to fly in a straight line. *Weapons options.-You can switch to a somewhat auto-pilot mode, where your ship automaticly fires all weapons at the closest enemy. You can maneuver the ship, and such, but the weapons fire automaticly.-You aren't restricted to a "this weapon fires forward" "this weapon fires backwards" - The weapons are adjustable. *Q-DriveIt takes energy, and it can only go to fixed points (Planets, or Spacedocks), but you are invisible to enemies, and invunerable to damage. (Note: Abused in Stellar Frontier. Alot. - Maybe have an energy drain when you leave, I.E. You have a bombfiredelay after leaving Q-drive, or perhaps you lose all weapons energy/ engine energy, and it has to recharge.) *Eh, I haven't played it in a while, actually. More when I can think of it. As it's 1 AM, there's probably mistakes. Focus on WHAT I said. not HOW I said it. harhar.
Kameloh Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 Here's a screenshot from BG for Stellar Frontier.
BG Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 Now to explain those nifty buttons in the top right. Census: Amount of players per team, amount of human players, and amount of bots. Navigate: Quick way to use Q-Drive. Select planet/target and hit "go" Ranks: Self-explanatory. Shows ranks and requirements. Target: Your current target. (as pictured) Displays level/type of systems, enemies ship, who is using it, which team they are on, and simple orders.-Fight: The Auto-pilot I was talking about. will continiously fire until energy is drained, wait for recharge, and then start firing again.-Tractor: Tractor the ship. If you have more crew than the target ship, and you successfully tractor it, That ship comes to your team. You also take all of their credits.-Attack: Orders bots to fight target, displays message to players to attack target.-Acquire: Orders bots to tractor target, displays message to players to tractor target. Planets: The planetary bodies. dur. Also shows population of colony, armor, and so forth. Damage: Your "status" - It shows each system, it's current charge, and it's "damage" - Damaged systems don't work as well, and slowly repair. Refit: Q-drives to your SpaceDock and docks with it, allowing for buying of upgdrades. Save: Saves current Data. Pilots: Human Players. Help: Equivalent of F1. (I want the SF zone back, too... )
The Apache Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 its too clutery. either its just my computer, or just me
»SOS Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 Well, yeah, that game looks full-of-junk, no wonder it has 12 players But still, some elements could be useful, so it's good to have it known
Samapico Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 someone said to bring back allowsavedships=1 ... the feature actually works very well. It would be nice to have different types of spawn locations... I mean that a 'insert' warp could bring you to a certain area, while a 'spawn' "warp" brings you to a different area, brickwarp, doorwarp, wormhole warp.... all those warp/spawn locations could be set independently, with a X-Y location and a radius, and possibly a diff. one for freq0 to freq3 , just like the spawn area works now. If possible, allow something like... 20 freqs' spawn location to be set independently, not only 4.All of this means about 100 new cfg file lines... but they could be optionnal... you add the lines you need, (like if you don't need 20 freqs, you just set the locations for , let's say, 2 freqs)....Oh... about the wormhole....... if each wormhole could warp you do a different location, it could be nice... like, you set the warp location/radius in the level editor............ but then, it contradicts the setting mentionned above, where you could set a wormhole-warp location for each freq...... hmm All of this would make original events possible and allow more customisable arenas / gameplay... A customisable HUD would be great... you choose where to show your energy bar , stats box, etc. It could screw up some custom display made by arena makers though.... hmm... maybe have the possibility to allow or not custom HUDs... hmm...
GENERAL_SLAYER Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 or like sam said... we could have each our own custum ones no matter what...there might be some add features like just say you make your own hud...but you didnt put a X RADAR feature...it should just come up defalt where it should be. This game is all about kustimizeing...and i love these ideas guys... if we make a other verson or whatever its gonna own! -gs
Samapico Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 most of the things that have been said are either stupid, impossible, or useless.... there are a lot of good ideas too, however... it doesn't hurt to dream....
