you or we or any1 who is using these sugestions should add more to the client itself and not to the biller. for instance the chat functions.

 

that would be a good i dea i think accept it would be easyer to cheat with i think.

DirectX 9.0c Shaders;

 

Perhaps some distortion effects on the explosions, and a matrix distortion OR a motion blur effect on bullets. Maybe improve the wormhole with some awesome shader effects - glare and maybe some distortion, and as you would get closer or get warped, your entire screen would be fading into a hyperspace effect.

3D overview ships! It would remove the need for animations and lighting. The map could have light/sun properties that would show themselves uppon the [minimally?] bump mapped ship. Of course, you wouldn't really see the very bottom of the ship unless you had another feature perform flips or barrel rolls or something.

 

Better rotation method. Instead of having a rotation that rotates your ship every 8 degrees or whatever it was, why not remove this and leave it up to 3D ships to do the trick of rotation.

 

Lights wouldn't affect tiles or lvz (although there might be an option per specific lvz graphic to allow shadows/light casting to dynamically/print), but would affect ships. Either you could have a sun or not. If you don't, you'll see your ship with its "lights" on, kinda like in the oldschool DOS Raptor game. smile.gif

 

Man, if some of Continuum was more 3D, it could change a lot of things and introduce a bunch of new ideas and tricks.

EDIT :: Semi-3D Top View (certain things would be 3D objects [specifically ships], while tiles and such would be 2D)

3D ship graphics would definitly improve ALOT the graphics quality...

However, making shipsets would be more complicated a bit for most people.

Some people suggested a 9th ship... but why not make the # of available ships unique in each map? If you want a map with 32 different ships, go ahead...

so you could create a map in which there are huge space battles , with capital ships, bombers, fighters, alien invaders, name it... (I'm thinking about FreeSpace2 while writing this...porting FS2 ships to SS would own)

there would have to be a set limit, 32 ships would be such a hassle. Im thinking 15 ships, it would be enough for most things, like 15 different style ships (Fighters,Bombers,Gun Platforms,Infantry and etc), or something like dsb with two factions but with 7v7.

a minor thing on this topic would be to make arena messages and PMs a doffrent colur to make them easier to distingusih

Should beable to add as many ships as you want and the equip them with diffrent weapons and perks dat would be da !@#$%^&*ness! More ships and weapons!

Sure why not? The server OP and SYOP could decide the amount of ships on there server and people dl the !@#$%^&* like you do noew for tilts. If not numberless, 16 ships would be perfect for variation and weapons for each of them. Super lasers (a powerful beam that takes power from your nrg), heat seekers(like if you move it can feel yhe heat from your engine), time bombs(maybe not could be lag!@#$%^&*ed), pulsgun (repells your enemy while damaging like repel), gausgun (damage all in a row), ioncannons.

yes and when a unexperience owner decides to use 30+ ships. this will give alot of lag in big battles coz it needs to caluculate an !@#$%^&* lot of things.

Just post any improvements you want to the game here. I remember the old-old-old messageboard had lots of this but nothing like this is on ssforum, unfortunately. So have at it, post every idea you've ever had for this game.

 

Anything from pink elephants to radar scanners to heat-seeking bullets.

 

How about a visual signal for when the 'music' is playing for the deaf/HOH players?
