»1587200 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 He's got a good -3 years in him then. w00t.
Dav Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 i just know this will get political so ill move it now. It was said they will want to elect an older pope this time round, John Paul II reign was longer then expected.
Aileron Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I'm somewhat concerned about his age as well...the Catholic Church appoints leaders for life, not 4 year terms. I guess their reasoning is that they want a few years to decide who the next pope after this one will be. Or maybe they felt this man deserved the position, and wanted to give it to him before he died. Still, their decisions were based on profound reasoning. In another topic I suggested that they elect one of the africans...I realise now that was a mistake, because then you are judging the man by the continent he has come from, which positive or negative, is little more than racism. Basically, we are discussing the surface of this guy, but the cardinals were judging candidates by knowing them on a personal level, and knowing what they each have done. We all know that there is really nothing we are qualified to discuss on this matter, even though its so important.
Paine Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 how come we have 2 topics on this?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because some people are too stupid to check if a topic has already been posted on a subject. [looks at BG] <_<

[looks at BG] <_<<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I posted it in the lounge because I wanted a more religious discussion. 'Seperation of church and state,' Eh?
»D1st0rt Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I'm sure he's really not but in all of the pictures i've seen he looks sinister like the Emperor from Star Wars
Aileron Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 He's mostly ugly from age though. That's what I love about the Catholic Church though...only they can judge a person by substance rather than appearance enough to elect a man THAT ugly to run the organization.
Dav Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 it is ,im sure, based on the abilities and the fact he shares similar views to those electing him.
»D1st0rt Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 JPII would have gotten so many more chicks than that dude had neither of them been priests though.
romenov Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I find it sad that so many people judge him for his past.First of all, who are they to judge? Second, if you look at the history of the catholic church it ain't pretty either (no offence intented).
