The Maurauder Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 I am creating this topic to discuss current conspiracies. (Duh?) Feel free to comment or post you own, but please do not repeat previous messages or make unintelligent discussion.Conspiracy 1: No economically-viable alternative fuel source for automobieles has been discovered and put into use.
Aileron Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 That isn't much of a conspiracy, the fact that oil companies paid to limit gasahol is public knowledge. But, other than that, keep in mind that inventing new technologies is not easy. The technology before the car...the domestic horse, was used thousands of years before the combustion engine was invented. Like it or not, it will most likely take a superintelligent inventor like Edison or DaVinci to replace heat engines, and the world currently has no one of that calibur.
Zeke Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 You can't say that. Hydrogen fuel cells are already being developed, it's still in that kind of experimental state, but it's far far more efficient than gasohaul. And to say that the world doesn't have that calibur of person is short-sighted, simply because that person may or may not have been discovered by the public or hasn't reached potential. Science is a constant in this world where new things are tried and tested on a daily basis. Also the impact of hybrid (gas/electric) cars is being felt, with some models getting upwards of 70- miles/gal. - Z
The Maurauder Posted April 3, 2005 Author Report Posted April 3, 2005 Yes, but such advancments should have been happening before now. The electric enhine has been around for... how long?
Aileron Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 No its not. As I said, the heat engine was invented about thousands of years after the horse was first utilized. We aren't really due for advancement until year 5000.
Dav Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Here is my conspiricy. The government keeps adding anti terrorism measures and discussing terrorism on a regular basis in order to gain support for somthing that is of very liuttle or no threat. Why i hear you ask? Well my exadurating the threat of terrorism expanentially and having news of it brodcast to every single member of the public it creates a sence of national fear and thus a unified support for the govenment who is there to do something about it. The addition of security measures, "what to do in a terrorist attack" leaflets make it look like the government are doing something and thus people feel theya re dpoing a good job and overlook the downfalls of thier leadership. I dont deny that somke security measures needed to be taken but hasnt this gone on long enough? of course as long as people believe its a threat and it IS DEFINATLY going to happen unles they SUPPORT EVERY LAST ACTION OF THIR GOVERNMENT this properganda acts as an effective weapon. Hows that for a conspiricy?
MasterDrake Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 If you believe everything people tell you and you see on tv you obviously too stupid too live. Also GM is producing 40 Hydrogen Fuel Cell veichles in Washington to test through out the city and if sucessful we should see them in a year or 2.
MonteZuma Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 No its not. As I said, the heat engine was invented about thousands of years after the horse was first utilized. We aren't really due for advancement until year 5000.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>That !@#$%^&*umes that advances in scientific achievement are linear path. I'd say they are exponential. Change and scientific advancement is happening faster and faster.
MonteZuma Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Also GM is producing 40 Hydrogen Fuel Cell veichles in Washington to test through out the city and if sucessful we should see them in a year or 2.Have they found an energy efficient way of making the fuel for hydrogen powered cars?
Dav Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 the way we get hydrogen is by the splitting of water which uses carbon as an energy source, hmm more CO2... methords of H2 production Of course green methods are being devolped but they cant make anywhere near enough yet. And as far as electrolysis is concerned we generate most of the energy from fossil fules. I think its a worthwhile devolpment for releace when there are green methords to produce all the hydrogen we use, the downside is we will use much much more water, already in short supply in parts of the world.
Phyran Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 http://edition.cnn.com/2005/TECH/03/30/spa....car/index.html i posted this in the kyoto treaty topic but no response
Phyran Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 im just responding to alternative fuel sources
Manus Celer Dei Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 No conspiracy is worth its salt without mentioning the knights templar at least once.
Phyran Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/05/0...tid=216&tid=159 mechas woot!
Aileron Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I do wonder if anyone will EVER make a mecha for practical military reasons. It comes down to whether walking is more efficient than wheels or treds. On one hand, biological creatures use walking. On the other, treds seem to be working just fine. I'm positive there will never be a FLYING mecha though, meaning one equiped with devices to send it skyward. Helicopters and jets are WAY more efficient than a 50 ton miscellaneously shaped lump of metal with rocket attached. The 'Transformers' model of a mecha that transforms into a jet, or atleast has jet like parts, MIGHT work, but then that requires another whole set of engine, transmission, and hydrolic devices to do the transforming, and it does absolute murder on the structural integrity of the machine. Speaking of conspiracies...this forum was moved below less active forums on the list!!!
X`terrania Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 I believe that Australia has an army of animals ready to attack North America.. A fleet of 90,000 wild animals..
Aileron Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Yes, but the United States has about 50,000 sharks patrolling the Pacific Ocean. It may SEEM like the sharks are outnumbered, but 50,000 sharks can take out an unlimited number of Kangoroos - if the Kangoroos were swimming in the middle of the ocean. Besides, the US has something no other country has - a bunch of hicks who will hunt and shoot any animal and eat it. Australia would only feed our hicks...if they are lucky, they might take out vegitarian California...to that I can only say, please do! They are annoying the rest of us. Seriously, now that I think about it further, if ever constructed, a mecha would definitely have a human shape...they may even be custom proportionalised to the pilot. Why? It allows greater control without as advanced computers...remember those NES power gloves that were made in the 80s? They could make something similar for the pilot's whole body, then rig the mecha to follow the exact same movements. This would allow phenomenal control over pretty heavy equipment. Also, they wouldn't have weapons for arms...it would be worth it to mount the weapons at the hand, because it would make it more accurate at longer ranges. Now, there' a conspiracy for ya....how comes in the 80s they could make something like the power glove, but today's game controllers aren't nearly as 1337? Seriously, you could make something similar for a fighting game and match the video game character's movements to the player's movements - that would be friggin awesome!!! Though, I don't know what would happen if the video game character got knocked down.
Slawsauge Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 how about the infusion of democratic professors at our colleges in the 70's? whooOOoo(creepy xfiles type sound), now thats a conspiracy.
Slawsauge Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 or how the alcohololol industries conspire to keep our greenage illegal.
Dav Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 when the world population of ants and urban pigeons grows large enough they will combine theiur power, forn the super ant-pigeon and take over the world enslaving humans to provide them with sugar and waste food for their consumption.
Dav Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 yes, ants are invading our homes and pigeons are eating all the rubbish putting rubbish collectors out of work which will lead to more food for them. OH NOES!!
