rogh Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I know I'll probably be attacked over what I say next, first by the staff, then by the staff supporters who want to get on the staff's good side so they can be mods, but I probably won't be here to read your angry replies. What's the point of not hiring people who actively want to be mods? Just to contradict and show your superiority over them? To show just because they ask you, doesn't mean you have to do it? It's good to have a mod that actually is active and who isn't afraid to ask. I don't get it, you turn them down SPECIFICALLY because they wan't to be one... What's the point of only hiring mods who don't even ask to be mods? Just to surprise people into thinking, "Wow, that guy didn't even ask to be one, and he got hired! I guess if I want to be a mod, I'd better shut up and make no hint of wanting to be a mod!" So then it becomes to be like no one wants to be a mod, and only a few unfortunate happen to ask to be a mod. The mere asking puts them in the "banned from staff" list. What's the crime of asking? What's the crime of expressing your want? Just because your outspoken doesn't mean you'll be a bad mod. Every power craving individual wants to be a mod, regardless of what they say, and turning a possibly good mod down just because they ask is simply cruel. Quote
Dr Brain Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 The people who ask are the most annoying people and part of the least qualified fraction of the population. It's some kind of cosmic law. I don't know why it's like that, it just is. People who hang out in the zone know not to ask, because they know they'll get turned down. So when the time comes to hire someone, we don't look for the people who've asked a million times, because we can tell that they don't have a clue what goes on. Quote

Bomook Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 The reason the people who ask to be staff aren't usually hired is a matter of common response, and not because the hirers are stuck-up. Immaturity causes noobs to repeatedly ask to become staff, whereas it's also the reason they get turned down. Asking to become staff and the chances of actually being hired are not directly related. Qualified people who ask to be staff are still hired. Being staff is to serve the population, not to be superior over them. There's no difference between staffing in CTM and volunteering at your local community center. The only genuine reason someone would want to staff is to commit his/her time to helping out the zone. It's a liability, not an !@#$%^&*et. Quote
»D1st0rt Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 <--has alot of clues about what goes on, but will never get hired. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your criminal record / history kinda prevents that from happening Quote
rogh Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Well, I guess I did come back. Yup, people who usually ask a million to be mods probably won't be a good mod, and they probably know that. I kind of have mixed feelings about this, in contrary to what it may seem like. It is kind of true that people who ask may not be the best mod, and people who keep silent probably won't abuse their power. However eventually people who would of usually asked to be a mod instead might keep quiet watching others asking be turned down. So really, it's not a law that people who ask to be a mod is going to be a bad one. It isn't really fair to turn down people from mod positions because they aren't very good. Even though people who still ask to be mods might be one, simply asking actually gives them a disadvantage over others who keep quiet and who is just as qualified. That's what I'm trying to get at. »D1st0rt Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Mostly because we get a zillion requests all the time and its very tiresome. Quote
rogh Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 I would be pretty annoyed, I never knew you guys got that many requests. You guys probably have grown numb to these requests and just reject them without much thought. Quote
