Yupa Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 call your ISP - tell them 75% of all the idiots that pay for their service may not understand the irresponsibility involved in such outages, but you certainly do and will aggressively enlighten the rest of the community if they don't shape up

cloudy Posted March 20, 2005 Author Report Posted March 20, 2005 I have call them on several occasions. They insist on giving me the runaround and as soon as their usual "are all your cables hooked up correctly?" and their " have you tried restarting your computer and the modem?" fail they put me on the inf hold. I've waited for 43 mins on hold before. They never come back. Note that this is also my second ISP that does this. The other cost a bit more and didn't do this as frequently but still; it seems to be a common trait. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/cloudy1/cloudy1.gifcloudy. ★ SOS Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Go to the local office and demand a resolution to the problem in person? I know how annything ISPs are, I've been trying to get them to fix my lossy connection too for... !@#$%^&*, 6 months now.
cloudy Posted March 20, 2005 Author Report Posted March 20, 2005 Lets just...kill them. Kill them all. Everyone get in your javs. We're going down town. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/cloudy1/cloudy1.gifcloudy. Isn't it?http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/cloudy1/clouds2.jpg
🜲 Samapico Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 I'm with you.. *hops in lanc* Call them and tell them something like: IF you don't f***ing fix this f***ing connection right now i'm going off with another ISP and I'll tell everybody I know how your service sucks... If they don't fix you, they are really dumb and take no care at all of their customers... therefore they don't diserve to have a business. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg/120px-Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg.pngDCME co-developerSSCU 17th Parallel sysop

Bajan Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Next time they tell you to check your wires, tell them to come and check thier own wires, its likely there old and need replacing, much like the situation was for my road...they were trying to sending m!@#$%^&* amouns of data down a cable that was over length..phased out..and weathered. Got them to replace the cable after emotionally breaking 5 or so customer service operators at my ISP.. Webmaster for a few sites..

Look to see if your line has any cuts in it.Are you using any filters on your cable line?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> All the wires on my side are clear. Nope no filters. I'll be paying them a personal visit soon. Depending on how I feel; it'll be with or without my javaline. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/cloudy1/cloudy1.gifcloudy. ★ SOS Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 If your cable is also used for TV, you will need a filter. Feedback from the TV could easily disrupt the internet signals on the cable.

The Maurauder Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I have ocasional outages with my cable internet as well. There will be periods when I will attempt to use teh internet and there will simply be no signal. I will restart my modem, all the normal checks, and it will keep flashing the ONLINE light, trying to connect. It will do this for hours, days at a time. I usually have to call Comcast and tell them to reset their signal, which always fixes the problem. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y161/The_Maurauder/GotBan.bmp R E T I R E D
