DaTi Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 !@#$%^&*o everyone. I know who Sage386 was and what he created, and I know that his name was netbanned. The name reset, but the ban didn't. My friend got the LP on it, and then gave it to me when he quit SS. I see that the ban is still underway, but I am wondering if we can get it revoked. There is no point in keeping a netban on a name that the individual will never use again. Also, I was told by more than one person that when Tombstone owned it, it was granted a banfree in EG. That said, I assume that PM allowed it, or even granted it. I've been given banfrees in a few SSC zones for this name, and every time it has been revoked by a biller op. How is this okay? If you're giving one person a banfree, it's only fair to give me one for this name. You may ask why I want a banfree for it. It's not like i'm going to go around screwing with zones with this name. I currently staff in DSB, and have staffed in quite a few zones over the past few years; I'd like to say i'm somewhat well known. I enjoy playing this game, and wouldnt jeopardize it by screwing around on an infamous name. The reason I want it unbanned is because, basically, it's my name. It was given to me, i'd like to go on it. I'm not expecting anything to happen from this post, I just figured i'd throw it up in the air.
Yupa Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 what's wrong with using DaTi? ...using someone else's nick sounds silly to me
Dr Brain Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Coming from Akai, erm, Yupa, that's kinda funny.
PoLiX Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 !@#$%^&*o everyone. I know who Sage386 was and what he created, and I know that his name was netbanned. The name reset, but the ban didn't. My friend got the LP on it, and then gave it to me when he quit SS. I see that the ban is still underway, but I am wondering if we can get it revoked. There is no point in keeping a netban on a name that the individual will never use again.Because it keeps that MacID and IP net-banned. Doesn't mean he still has it, but it's just the principal of it all. Also, I was told by more than one person that when Tombstone owned it, it was granted a banfree in EG. That said, I assume that PM allowed it, or even granted it.Tombstone is an EX-SysOp / Current SMod in EG, when he had it, he might of just banfreed himself. I've been given banfrees in a few SSC zones for this name, and every time it has been revoked by a biller op. How is this okay? If you're giving one person a banfree, it's only fair to give me one for this name. That's wrong. A zone may banfree anyone locally they want. So it was someone in the zone who lifted it, not a billing op. Only Swift, GS, Plat, BD, or Priit would have access to go into another zone and lift it, and I do not see them doing that. It was given to me, i'd like to go on it.I have many names I can't go on, but that's life. Why do you want to play as Sage386? I see no point in it really. I'm not expecting anything to happen from this post, I just figured i'd throw it up in the air.Maybe not expecting, but hoping.
SVS Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 No? Banned names are not unbanned just so a person may claim the name. We don't reset unused names so they may be claimed so why would we reset bans so the same thing may be accomplished? If you want to use that name I suggest you ask the operators in the zones you frequent if they would banfree it locally. If they say no, to bad. If they say yes, problem solved.
DaTi Posted March 10, 2005 Author Report Posted March 10, 2005 Ignorance is bliss I guess. I've gotten four or five banfrees for the name (including MG, SVS) and they have all been taken down. The MG one was taken down upon my request, however. Why? Because the guy who had the LP informed me that the banfree in RedStar was taken down by PM; I didn't want to get any other zones in trouble because of a name. I really don't know too much about the whole name system, but I do know that you're little netban of this name has absolutely NO connection to the origional sage. The name was reset.. First played: 12-11-2004 23:12:36 my friend from RS noticed it and created the name for himself. The beloved IP and MacID that you guys think you have belong to Steigerwald from RedStar, not Sage386. If I am wrong in this, then I stand corrected, and I apologize. But if it is okay to banfree a netbanned person, than why did Ghost Ship take away Redstars banG when they banfreed zcraft? You're right though SVS, maybe I asked the wrong question. The more appropriate question would be: Can I have this name banfreed and NOT have zones get in trouble for it? Thats the last thing any of us need. As for the reason of my request, no offense intended, but i'm not really asking for anyone to understand why I want to play on the name, I just want an answer to my question. Whether the answer is yes or no, I just wanted an answer. I have gotten it a banfree, and I will probably get more for it. If a biller op happens to see this post and disagrees with me, please let me know via ?message, because I will probably forget about this post (i already did once )
SVS Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 If it was netbanfreed in MG it was done so against my rules and it is good it was removed before I saw it. As I already stated if someone wants to banfree it locally they are allowed to do so but we do not remove bans to allow people to use reset names.
STS Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 i was banned for using swearwords. i just don't get it. my parents know i speak that way, why shouldn't i be able to on MG and stuff? your mom goes to college. <_<
50% Packetloss Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 You were not net-banned. Zones are allowed to ban whoever they want, for whatever reason they want LOCALLY, but when it comes to the entire SSC network there are strict rules that the operators have to abide by (http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=4827). So, although I disagree with banning players for profanity, zones are not government and they do not have to promote free speech. Play in another zone, there are plenty. As for the sage386 thing, it's really pointless for anyone to own that name. banG is a privlage for zones and if they decide to put the network at risk by banfreeing a risky player then they arn't mature enough to handle it. I'm sure that whoever owns sage's name now is not someone who will put the network in any danger, but there is nothing positive that will come out of someone using his name. So if you find some zone owners that are willing to put thier banG privlages at risk so some re!@#$%^&* can use a pointless name, then knock yourself out.
Trained Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Version 1.34.6 Fix against Sage386's DoS attack (At least one that crashed Trench Wars andI have crash dump about). Paine Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 i was banned for using swearwords. i just don't get it. my parents know i speak that way, why shouldn't i be able to on MG and stuff? your mom goes to college. <_<<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing to do with the fact your name is ever so slightly similar to a certain jack!@#$%^&*----erm, sysop. [i wub you really SVS ^..^]
50% Packetloss Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 You would have to be a re!@#$%^&* to confuse STS from SVS.
