I was wondering what programs I need to make a mod for Subspace. I know this sounds like a Newbie question but im just curious on how to do it. Ide like to make a paintball mod or a vietnam mod. Something cool.

And help would be appreciated

SSME - Map Editor - http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=182

LVZ ToolKit - To replace Zone Graphics - http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=175

Tile Editor - Really basic Tile Editing Program - http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=187

None of this will help you in doing anything extremely amazing with graphics. Going to need Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to do some graphics editing, and it's all Bitmap based images. Tiles are 256 colors limited, and the bmp files use a .bm2 ext.

There is really a lot too it, so I just suggest you start small, just began toying with things before you go all out. Learn how to even get a zone up and running 1st.

Vietnam - Military zones already exist, i just saw you in Desert Storm a few Days ago. Other military zones would be Ground Warfare and Metal Gear

Paintball - There have been paintball zones a few times, i myself owned one (which im currently remaking)

A couple more worth checking out:

I'd also recommend you download lvztoolkit.zip from http://www.shanky.com/cgi-bin/ryan/downloa...?lvztoolkit.zip and not ssdownloads.com (no offense to Test or Bajan, but the shanky link is much more likely to be the latest version).

the bmp files use a .bm2 ext.
using .bm2 is unnecessary, just use .bmp, .png, .gif or .jpg (same for .wa2 - just use .wav)

.bm2 & .wa2 still have a few uses...mostly because of poor programming/hacking/planning (imo) - you will know what those uses are if you ever need to blum.gif

sounds somewhat irrelevant blum.gif

Well, that one would be obvious once you looked into LVZs, but you need to know how to open the current graphics to even know how to begin editing them... lol.

That would be the best answer. Try to create something original that no-one has ever seen before, ideas like that get the most attention.
