Continuum doesn't have a set port. Every server uses a different set of ports, so it's impossbile to block them all. One of the things you could do, is block 4001 and 4002, and then delete all the zones off his list. The dir servers run on those ports, so he wouldn't be able to download any zones. Only problem is he might be able to get the info from someone for a zone. But it might help slow his play. Quote
»SD>Big Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 do you use a firewall? judging by the fact that you use napster and aol, i'm guessing you have microsoft's firewall enabled (if you upgraded your service packs), you can always dissallow internet access to continuum through a firewall. PoLiX Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Sure. Open Continuum, and right click on a zone. A bit of information will pop up showing the name, ip/port, and description. Block the Port, and your good. Quote
»SOS Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 The directory server port was 4992, not 4002 Quote

Sheesh give the lad a break, 20 hours is nothing Anyways, what version of windows are you using? 2000/XP have the ability to prevent certain programs from running. Quote
BG Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 have you tried uninstalling it? hehe<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Continuum takes about a minunte to download, and another 2 minutes or so to install. uninstalling would result in.. a delay of 3 minutes! http://castlecops.com/downloads-file-211.html That should help - It's only a 30 day demo though. Dav Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 you could alwaystry and get him a netban The multiple ports thing is a problem in this case, the best option is with parental controls on the computer itself blocking all access. Which router do you have (out of interest) Quote
larry Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 20 hours isnt much, you can work for longer then that a week at age 13. thats what? three hours a day its very normal for a teenage boy (i assume hes a teenager) to play computer games for hours and hours, i have a friend who arrives home at 4pm, will surf for 6+ hours and go to bed, over 15 hours at the weekend. Okay so thats abnormal but 20 isnt, trust me, he'll just find something else to get addicted to (iv done it repeatedly), it may aswell be subspace where he has the oppertunity to have a laugh and in a moderated environment.... i can think of worse places to spend 3 hours a day Quote
»i88gerbils Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Instead of trying to stop him completely from what he enjoys why not go for compromise and discussion with the whole family instead of alienating one member? Quote
protoman.exe Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Yeah , like everyone is saying , 20 hours a week is just...weak , During spring break I was on for like ... 12+ hours a day , Normal days im just on like , 3-4+ , Yeah , you could uninstall it....That would work , and then just block the website (http://www.ssdownloads.com , http://www.subspacedownloads.com ) or take away his pocket money Quote
