PullTripSquid Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 I sucessfully changed the jvroll.bm2 in my zone, but whenever i add the matching ships.bm2, the jav ship only shows up and it doesnt show the ship rolls that are uploaded, instead all i see is the ships.bm2 yet i uploaded the lvz file for the jvroll.bm2 also but it wont show up. Any ideas what is causing this?
»SOS Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 First, what exactly do you mean by "doesn't show up"? I'll assume you mean "the lvz isn't downloaded" for now.Are you sure both lvz files are in Misc:LevelFiles?Did you perhaps use some weird/invalid syntax in the setting?
Yupa Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 there are some oddities like this, especially since Priit started fiddling with .lvz I forget the exact cir!@#$%^&*stances that cause exactly what, but it depends on if it's a subarena and if you've got other ship lvz elsewhere and of course if your lvz are sound in the first place - and possibly the use of ships and not ship1, etc
PullTripSquid Posted February 13, 2005 Author Report Posted February 13, 2005 Alright, here it is, exactly what i did, i really want help so ill tell you exactly what i did mabye you guys can help me because i am still a newb to all of this stuff. MY SETUP Ok, i have 2 lvz files that i added to my zone jvroll.lvz and ships.lvz The ini file for jvroll.lvz is exactly as follows:________________________________________________________________; OutFile specifies lvz file data is written into and it is overwritten if already presentOutFile=jvroll.lvz File=jvroll.bm2________________________________________________________________by the way this ini file is named jvrolllvz.ini (dont knwo if that has anything to do with it) within the same folder i have the file jvroll.bm2. The ini file for ships.lvz is exactly as follows:________________________________________________________________; OutFile specifies lvz file data is written into and it is overwritten if already presentOutFile=ships.lvz File=ships.bm2________________________________________________________________ and the ini file is named shiplvz.ini Ok, now, within my server.cfg under Misc:LevelFiles, I have as follows: jvroll.lvz,ships.lvz THE PROBLEM When i have all of this saved and recycle i go in the zone and it takes a while to download, then, i see that the ships.bm2 HAS loaded good, all of the ships are changed to my bm2 file. Then when i load the jav and i turn it doesnt change over to the jvroll.bm2, NONE of the ships roll, all i see is the ships.bm2 and the jvroll doesnt have my new jvroll.bm2 and the other ships dont even have the default rolls, its as iff the ships.bm2 covers up the other images that SHOULD be there. Then when i take out ships.lvz in the server.cfg it SHOWS the jvroll and its fine, but ofcourse i want them both the ships.bm2 and the jvroll.bm2. im a confused newb plz help me thanks for reading all of this (if anyone did) :/ i wish i was leet
Yupa Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 try adding the other rolling images try using ship1, ship2, etc instead of ships
»SOS Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 You can also try putting both of the bm2 files in the same lvz file.
»Maverick Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Also, make sure your .lvz files do not exceed 4 mbhttp://www.shanky.com/server/faq/buildlevel.html#1031412264
The Maurauder Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Possible solutions:Use ships.bm2 jvroll.bm2 AND ship2.bm2Place all 3 files in the same LVZ (Stated before)Be sure to edit Misc:Levelfiles so that it only uses the lvz that all 3 images are in. Hope this helps. :maur:
Kilo Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 I've encountered trouble when replacing ship rolls in general. Even when they work for a bit, they like to stop working after I shipchange into another custom ship that doesn't have rolls defined for it (and won't work again until I reconnect). What I'm saying is that you may be doing nothing wrong and that it's just a bug of Continuum. Also: ships.bm2 is old...the individual shipX.bm2 is more versatile.
