Although this is Continuum, many people came from Infantry to here at various times and for various reasons. I was always a fan of Infantry, dropping in and out.Myself and Beware were talking about Infantry today actually when Raem dropped in and mentioned about a free server for Twin Peaks he found.Looking at the site, downloading and such like, the overall system seemed to work, even in game. Which made me think. Prehaps some time, although this isn't linked to anything continuum (so sorry if this is sort of advertising :z ) but if we all wanted to get together at a time for a game or two of proper CTF in this server, the site is: http://www1.pacific.edu/~j-chan3/infantry/tutorial/ Just follow the instructions really from there. Also the 17th Parallel staff might want to take a look just to some ideas maybe for developing their current flagging game.

Raem Posted January 15, 2005 Author Report Posted January 15, 2005 Sweeeet. The link at the bottom of the page for their IRC is incorrect. The correct server is ircd.suroot.com #infantry. They have a bunch of people that know about the server, and a pop thats just a little under 17ths, so it seems. Their inf server doesnt have a lot of the features as inf had when I left it, but its still a good reference. As long as people are in the IRC server, if the game server is shut down by Sony taking action, everyone knows where the new server is located <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's worse than DeathMatch :\ Why change a perfectly good Ctf map to... arena? Some sort of really cheap exp growing shooting game. It's... nasty and tacky. Imagine people in there with various characters with various attributes fighting to lvl up and own everything and everyone in their path. Its really fun when you have a lot of people there to play with...but when new people come in late after a reset and people have been playing and lvling up, they get frustrated with their little auto pistol against 10 people with automatic energy weapons and rediculous health+agility. Theres plenty of maps that can be put up from the orig. infantry, but since arena is up now, it will be there for a while due to the rpg nature of it. It takes forever to get your character built up.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I don't want to sit around for hours collecting bits of plant to raise my 'dexterity by 1' ... Seriously, it's a complete waste of time. But with the paying of money it slowly started to die and now practicly is after they removed a bunch of good zones and added crappier new ones. Even the real servers are too small to have fun, I entered one with 60 some people and the entire arena were on guest names. There must be as little as 100 suckers who actually pay for the game, I cant see how sony makes money off the game. They might as well make it free and hand out the server software.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
