Mr Ekted Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Someone once posted a nice message about a problem with a certain motherboard/AMD combination causing all sorts of clock/FPS/lag issues, which was fixed with a certain BIOS upgrade. Does anyone have this info? Quote
ExplodyThingy Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 If it was on the old forums, check old.ssforum.net, though i assume you knew that. Quote
Guest Angel Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 I didn't post anything about it, I don't think, but I do have the AMD/BIOS/Motherboard lag issue. .37 was completely terrible. Everyone's relative ping (Ping in the brackets beside their names) would start out normal, then gradually increase until it got to 900+ms. Nothing is wrong with my FPS or with my ingame clock. On the other hand, DoCk> let me use .38 pr1-5, and only pr5 fixed the problem partly, and of course when .39 pr1 was released, the problem was still mostly resolved. The relative ping of people do change quite a lot, but never exceed 250-300ms ping, one they reach that high, it gradually goes back down to the normal 30-90 I'm used to seeing. Since you probably need a few details of the machine it affects, I'll post it below: System ProcessorModel : AMD Athlon XP 2400+Speed : 2.00GHzModel Number : 2400 (estimated)Performance Rating : PR2896 (estimated)Type : StandardL2 On-board Cache : 256kB ECC Synchronous Write-Back MainboardBus(es) : ISA AGP PCI USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBusMP Support : NoMP APIC : NoSystem BIOS : American Megatrends Inc. 3.03Mainboard : ASUSTeK Computer INC. »nintendo64 Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 It was the VIA Motherboard with the AMD Athlon that caused the problem with the graphics card, i believe NVidia Geforce Series or maybe ATI Radeon Series. -nintendo64 Quote
Guest Angel Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Going to upgrade my BIOS from 1.04 to 1.08 tomorrow, probably. Hopefully that is the fix for it. If not, I'll post a reply/edit this post saying whether it was a success or a failure. Quote
Guest Angel Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Well, that was an obvious failure because the Flash Memory program isn't supported by Windows XP and I can't get a command prompt except booting into Safe Mode with Command prompt. Horrah! Quote
Guest Posted October 2, 2003 Report Posted October 2, 2003 You need a windows 98 boot disk to boot your pc to dos then perform the flash up date. Quote
