For those who want to play for kills its a nice bonus...I'm not fond of the movable flag either for the reasons Sama stated above. I like the idea of the messages if you were on a roll of killing or something like that to keep things interesting. Of course, if you REALLY wanted to get pub pop back up, you could, oh, i dont know, bring back the old sets Oh, and by the way, with that whole "staff is not obligated to take into consideration the poll etc etc etc." thatis such a load of holier-than-thou bull!@#$%^&*. Sure, you aren't obligated to take into consideration what the players like/dislike, just as we aren't obligated to play this zone (Hey, GreatOneDuh has a zone up now, and that other zone has scrabble oh no, is this advertising?! oh, nope, its a threat ). Advice to staff would be to take CAREFUL CONSIDERATION (double underline, boldfaced, brightly colored blood dripping letters) of what the PLAYERS (not the zombies who sit in spec for hours on end and don't play pub-I'm looking at YOU!) like/dislike especially the vets who have been around here for a long time... they're the loyal players who you should listen to now and again (Why won't anybody listen to me? Is it because I insert these little comments or is it cuz tomorrow I'll be gone again and everyone will forget about me?).If you built it, they will come... Go the distance... It could be changed to make it like 3 or 4 times it's bounty. So you'd get a noticeable amount of points for a kill... As for the flag... The only argument that is favorable to it is that 'it can be fun for those who just kill' ... isn't this a team game? Anyway... I don'T see where's the fun for them... since, as I said earlier, you have to not kill anyone for 5 minutes to win a jackpot... Turf flags will be useful if they are placed correctly and if they give a decent amount of points. By 'placed correctly' I mean 'not somewhere noone would ever go' ... put them in strategic places that are easily accessible. Put some outside the base, some inside... Quote

The day it does; the day I return 17th when I first joined when cool. I hated continuum, I was still very much into my Infantry stage of things (where most people seem to of come from or played around). 17th I played though because of it's not too quick, not too slow approach to things. It's middle of the line and thats what made it unique!! Every other zone is either this way inclined, that way pulled, or just lame !@#$%^&* like svs. Then you made 17th !@#$%^&*... people started to leave, more complaints rose, veterans departed and you were left with n00bi3s who think pub now is great. I still remember it sucking !@#$%^&*. Your pub sucks, 17th sucks, fix it. Quote

The flag gives points to everyone when only one person has the flag and is continuously getting kills, while there could be someone who just sits in safe or a newb who flies around aimlessly and still manages to get points, koth requires multiple people if not all to kill in order to recieve points and more bounty. This in turn inspires players and maybe even the clueless newb to try to aim more and kill more, thus giving them more points. The flag is the lazy mans way to get points. What i have a problem with is when your playing the game, people generally say what the problem is...and then the usual reply is to go to the forums, and the forums are advertised on a regular basis but even as most of the people here offer alternate suggestions its hard to get satisfaction from any upper staff which i for the most part admire, until they !@#$%^&* the levi up then ill have some problems but any way They simply need to get that vote bot up and run the poll in pub if they are concerned at all about what players think. Greased_Lightning Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Temp, I'm not getting on your !@#$%^&* about this but it really is frustrating when we're supposed to use these forums to give our feedback on the zone and decisions made by staff and they are blatantly ignored. This flag poll, while unofficial, makes a strong case that staff should start an endorsed poll to determine which way the players want the flag game to be done. Take this poll as a sign that they should make a vote, either in the pub or on the forum and listen to that. As of yet, they havent done that and havent shown any indication that they intend to. Seeing as how the forum is oft-advertised in the zone, staff should be required to actually take seriously what is discussed here. Of course they don't need to take seriously posted threads like "Lets give the levi 8000 energy and shields" but threads like this that have valid points should be recognized. I can afford to be self-righteous because I'm not the one who changes sets, I'm not the one who ignores the forum, and I'm not the one who hasn't even bothered to take this issue into a real discussion endorsed by staff (and I don't mean you temp, i mean the upper staffers). Hopefully this will all be straightened out by the time I'm able to get back into the zone... I'll try and keep up to date on the forums here especially on this topic so forgive me if I end up posting on here a week or two from now and am completely out of date. Last thing is just advice to the staff: When valid topics are brought to the forum and discussed, maybe staff should pay attention and take a real interest in what the players think by polling them once in awhile and not leaving it to individual players to bring these things up (props to you Maur! ). GhettoSmurf Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 i played for a while the other day and the movable flag confused the !@#$%^&* outa me too. cuz i totally forgot that alt is the default key for map, and i'm on my home computer which has the default keys on so i gave up on trying to figure out if it wasn't a baller and just started killin anything big and red on my radar... on a brighter note, i'm going back to school tomarrow! sure that might not sound all great, but when you don't go to half your classes and never do any homework like me, it's pretty sweeeet. specially when you ace all your exams, half of which are taken consecutively one day after staying up all night drinking Quote
