~~SS/Continuum Feature Wish List~~

This is my wishlist for everything I would like to see in future versions of SubSpace / Continuum.

Expandable Ammount of Upgrades

I would like to see more bombs/bullets, but this has been said numours times. This will allow some zones to have Javs the weakest, and then have the WB allowed to go all the way up to 10 levels...With more levels, there shall also have to be an "effect" list for the explosion type. Such as fountain, small explosion, burst, etc.

Upgradable Ships

Let the players save their points, and then buy upgrades that stay with their ships. Such as...uhh..well, I have no examples right now but such as maybe diffrent versions of each ship. A slower version of a warbird, but it has maybe a look of two guns added on top. That sort of thing. This will make it pretty wierd and defy the original SubSpace, but, its worth a shot in my opinion.

Heat Bombs

Probably an upgrade, but it will seek the heat of a locked on target. Now, if the locked on target goes into safe, warps, or anything then the bomb will fade. It will hit any target that is right infront of it. This may seem unfair, so maybe it will only be put in zones where good players go.

MORE EFFECTS!

Come on, just having a count down and warping to safe is LAME! How about some effects, defined by the server?! Such as fading, flying up through the screen, or blood down the screen? (bare with me, these are quick thoughts.) I think that maybe an animation file can be defined and read by the client or something for each zone or ending type. I hope you know what I mean.

Feel free to post more. When I arrive home from school today I will post more.

How about suggesting some stuff that MIGHT be taken into consideration?

Extra macro messages such as %flagtime (displays flag time) and %ship (displays what ship your using).

The ability to choose what ships can start with prox would be good, or Bullet fire energy upgrade in the sets. Maybe some way to disable quick wins (when players shoot other players with flags in a safe zone) would be a great.

I could think of more but im off to work now...

EDIT: How could i forget, keep speccers from getting KOTH.

Well then stop posting blum.gif

More upgrades will not be implemented for a long long time.

Seeking weapons are out of the question for the forseeable future. The only quick way I can see it being implemented is by making ships have gravity like wormholes and giving each bomb different m!@#$%^&* values.

Upgradable ships have ALWAYS been part of the game and even the settings saving is part of the current Subgame build (providing your subarenas use the same settings). God knows why you thought otherwise. Added features in this area can already be dealt with by the bots.

Extra macro variables can be done in ASSS with a little hacking away at the code.

"Disable quick wins". I don't quite understand what you mean here. Do you want to prevent flaggers/ball carriers being able to die in safe? That would mean a lot of hoarding. You could use a bot to make this work (continually granting energy or warping flag carriers to a "safe" area).

Ships starting with prox has been covered many many times already.

Speccers not getting KOTH may or may not be implemented depending on demand.

Special effects can be done with bots.

Oh..well, my mistake about those. Here are some more off the top of my head.

Lamer Prevention (another Bot feature? srry)

Why not some simple server code (as an option) that can prevent lamers comming out from safe, and then shooting, and going back. I think this can be fixed in some ways, but, I don't know how..I will have to think more on this.

Warp Chooser

Probably only for people who can buy it, or for sysops, but once you activate this device it expands the ALT minimap and you can choose where to warp to if you have full energy. Also, macros for this would be very nice.

?gozone #ZONE

This has been mentioned before, but might as well post it again. I bet you can figure out what this will do...

?buy

If there are going to be homing missles, or something like that, why not a feature to buy ONE of them...and..store it...eh?

?drop X

Drop a bought item, probably put it as a green box. Won't vanish until somebody picks it up. (or timed out)

?serverinfo

I don't know if this is implemented, but it would be nice to have more information of the server (in game). IE, owner, IP, number of registered players, ammount of players on, average scores, etc. Crap like that smile.gif

More stats

..such as "Most Killed", "Least Killed", "Oldest Pilot", "Newest Pilot", "Chatties Pilot" (sends the most messages), "Most used Ship..", etc. These will be interesting.

Targetting Systems

I think a ?target or something would be cool. You type in the players name, and then an arrow circles your ship pointing in which direction to go if you want to find the player. The arrow vanishes when the player is gone. Also, there will be a warning when you are targeted. (Of course, this may or may not help the player aim..shouldn't really...)

More soon too smile.gif

Hmm? Maybe I have the wrong definition of bots..I thought bots were simply .. er, smart IF/THEN statements with network code? How would those modify the in game graphics for locking on to somebody and then pointing to which direction to go???

Heres a good feature idea - a universal chat server for Continuum. It will probably use the ?chat= command, but the server will take care of connecting it to the universal system. This way if defined by the server, almost any zone can talk to each other. I think that will be cool, or..deadly...

Bots are clients (just like vie or continuum). They login to the zone, see player movement/weapons and text, just like a client. Bots control graphics using sysop commands (eg *objon and *objoff).

Chat already go across zones. Each billing server links all zones together that use it. All chats and remotes go through the billing server. Other billing server functions include player alias/password/banner, ban control, ?message, ?find, etc.

Aside from the dozens of bugs that need fixing:

i agree that an actively updated client even with small updates wouldnt be bad, but again, can't update it too often or it because a massive bandwidth drain on the major hosts and could result in lost players :/

in response to the "global" chat idea, i say there should be an in-game SS IRC chat. it could with with: |hey, whats up? it could use the pink text that is in the fonts file, or the purple one :/ This server would allow for channels to be registered easily, the server should be ran by the inner-group that is the SSCouncil, for they can prevent people from stealing nicks on that server by checking biller data

Now, since there are so many chats, how about an improved chat window (or -*BAD WORD*-, an entirely new chat client lol). Depending on the chat channels ur on, it will have a list of option boxes, you click on one and it automatically sends ur text to that chat. (chat channels, team chat, public, arena if mod+, zone if smod+, specific player, IRC?). This could prevent more "wrong chat" messages and even speed up chatting and make it easier for newer players to learn the game.

the ?gozone one i like

?go ?targetplayer=loser, ?target is already in use for those that don't know

?drop is also good i feel, u should be able to downgrade your ship's stats, this should be disabled in the Server.cfg by default tho

@Kliff:

Nice macro ideas man

No, there can't be any new weapons, i don't even want to see ship straffing to be honest. Changes the game too much and would require MORE keys to be used, this is one of the few games arround that makes use of nearly EVERY key already.

ok, i'll stop it here, i got more ideas, but i don't like to go on too long

On the top of the little radar, where you coords are displayed. It would be nice if it also displayed the X,Y coords for staff.

Under the periodic reward in the zone settings, it would be nice if you could set it to reward over the 30,000 limit.

If this is possible, it would also be nice if you could disable teamkilling it some way. You can't kill yourself, it could be set that way with your teammates, but this should be a choice in the zone settings.

!@#$%^&*s test zone is on SSC and is running the "ChatNet" plugin, you just need Linux to run the client (Python with ncurses) or make one yourself.

Admiral Kirks Subchat works pretty nice.. http://kirk.sscentral.com, tho the site is down right now and you need to be a VIP to use it.
