Aileron Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 hey, you are beginning to get this post back on topic, please stop.
Aileron Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 This is my wishlist for everything I would like to see in future versions of SubSpace / Continuum. Upgradable ShipsLet the players save their points, and then buy upgrades that stay with their ships. Such as...uhh..well, I have no examples right now but such as maybe diffrent versions of each ship. A slower version of a warbird, but it has maybe a look of two guns added on top. That sort of thing. This will make it pretty wierd and defy the original SubSpace, but, its worth a shot in my opinion. ~Kanzure i agree with this. it will allow 'better' players to have a better ship to use. it will further seperate the noobs and the 1337s Actually, Armada !@#$%^&*ail used to have this. I tell you what, that zone was REALLY addicting. The bot gave all players a "rank" by the number of points they had. Higher ranks would first open up more ships, and then offer free upgrades such as multi, xradar, etc. The ultimate prize was free prox, and since the L3 and L4 bombs were one-shot kill, it was VERY valueble. The goal of getting this kept me playing for weeks. Ofcourse you could get all these upgrade by greens, so a new player had the possiblity of getting a l33t ship. The obvious problem with this is that it discourages new players from playing, and discourages even more people from going to different zones. Another problem is that good players with good ship will grow lazy, less skillful, and more egotistical.

My zone (SSCI Hyperspace) has this to an extreme, but it would be nice to have a system built into the game.
Aileron Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Oh yes, I forgot to put my point in. It is okay, but it must be kept under control. Most players who like that sort of thing play Everquest or something like that. If Continuum did this, we might move out of our niche and get hurt badly.
madhaha Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 Why? Subspace is a game of many zones. Some will use the system, some won't. I don't see how that would hurt our playerbase...
RocketGib Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 I highly doubt Priit really cares about continuum anymore, or he would be forkiing out tons of updates.
madhaha Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 And how many game clients have you developed while rolling out a new P2P communication system?
mister manners Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 but still, even if he is working full time, there is a community of 300+ ppl that LOVE the game, and if he isnt working on it, leave it to another programmer or company that he trusts
»D1st0rt Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 only 300? for aerial photographs:http://www.mapquest.com/mapsenter in the address and when you see it there is an "Aerial Photo" Tab
Guest Nickel5 Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Tracking System No not for bombs, but wouldn't it be great if you could (buy/green) tracking then tick a player and be able to track them down, either on the radar or with an on screen arrow. Of course a new anti-tracking system would have to be implemented as well so people woldn't whine to much. Another thought on this same subject, perhaps tracking could just be a built in system and have stealth be the couter measure. And lastly, maybe a bot could run this? Not sure how though

Not sure how though I believe a bot could do a job such as this. It would just be a matter of adding a graphic over the targetted ship (a red crosshair or something) and make it where the player can only be targeted for a limited amount of time. If the player has "stealth" enabled, then you will not be able to lock onto their location.
istink2 Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 wtf u pplz still posting here for? this thread was started on sept 9
