Telson Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 So should they? I think so. This would make the game more fair. Instead of a whole team hogging a base for 5 to 6 matches. They'd have to fight for it each match. This means it would be harder to get 5-0. Also means each team has an equal chance of getting the ball once a new game starts. The drawback is that the people not playing soccer will get warped too including ones afk in the safety. But hey No One is truly safe right? so what do u think? Quote
thelordoftheland Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 i think it would mean that who ever can score the ball quickly will be the winner.... making speed the deceisive factor Quote
La Muerta Rosa Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 I think that is a poor solution for a minor problem. If you think it is too easy to hold bases once people get entrenched in them, maybe the ship settings should be altered (lanc with bounce anyone?) Warping all players interfears unreasonably with the players who do not play soccer. Quote
GhettoSmurf Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 i find that when an enemy has a strong footing in a base, it's because their team has more teamwork and i can't get enough support. so warping players may allow individuals to score more, but probably wouldn't effect the game too much. and then if there is a good match between the teams, then one team might be working hard to take a base back for their last goal. they wipe out all enemy forces after fighting for a while, then score, and suddenly lose the base that they worked so hard for. another problem arises when someone has bounce. the game ends and the bouncer is warped out of their secure position and are exposed to everyone on the other team that is annoyed by the bounce, as well as all the players who were already fighting in the spawn area. and as Lord said, speed would matter more. so someone could just hop in a weasel for the fast win. and since anyone who would take the base would potentially lose it after the game, there wouldn't be much incentive to try hard to stop the quick goals. Emblazon Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 telson had already asked me about this before posting it and i told him my opinion. some people dont even play the soccer game in pub, or dont play it exclusively. sometimes, i enjoy just flying around picking fights and turreting and such. telson's idea would only favor the losing team, it would not solve the problem effectively. Unless, as i told him, a bot was programmed to warp only people within the area of the bases. however, even that would prove to be a bad idea. at best, only 50% of the players (losing team) would benefit from it. The moral: bad idea, it will encourage a riot as far as im concerned But, keep up the good work telson, you might just become a somebody in this zone some day. Quote

Raem Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 You could try setting the safe zones as warp points (north for freq 0, south for freq 1), but I haven't bothering thinking of the advantages and disadvantages of this..partly because I have a massive headache, and partly because I don't really care =P Quote
Arianax Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 It'd be kinda crappy if you warped people. If they really cant get a team out of a base, its their fault. Quote
Emblazon Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 im sarcastic 50% of the time, not sarcastic the other 50%. in ur case tel, its a well known fact that you do a lot for the zone and the work you do is really appreciated. of course i was kidding... jeez, what do you take me for? silly sysop Quote

Samapico Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 Wouldn't bricks be removed if the game was reset though?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> nope... and ghetto.. default warp is insert Oh... and... I don't like the idea much... would screw up teamplay imo. Quote
»Maverick Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I don't like the idea much too. The idea of warping players after a soccer game isnt the solution. It requires teamplay to conquer (if its taken) and hold the base. Why warp them once a soccer game is over. If you do this then you would eliminate alot of base fights which are the most fun in 17th Parallel if you ask me. Quote
GhettoSmurf Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 If the spawn points were set to safety. you'd just be back where you started =P<{POST_SNAPBACK}>it would set the warp point to safety, not spawn right? cuz it would be kinda dumb to spawn in safes...well, maybe not too dumb, but i like having the spawn area. and ghetto.. default warp is insert <{POST_SNAPBACK}>oh right lol, i changed mine to alt...silly me Quote
Raem Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 Spawn point == warp point (as far as I remember) Quote
Rixsta Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I'm not sure about this, i think it could work if games didnt finish so quick. For example if games were set to time rather than goals, and then if its drawing you go into extra time, and the first team to score in that wins, it could work then. But that would change the entire zone dimension, id have liked to seen team shuffle... but that would only be useful if the game's didnt finish so quick too. I'd like to see it tested though. Quote

»Maverick Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 warp point == spawn point == what the bot does when game is over in tels idea and warp point (aka spawn point) is not set to safety. Quote
