PapaV Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Hope someone can help. I really miss this game! I played Continuum frequently until recently, when I was out of town for 2 months. When I returned home, and clicked on the Continuum icon, the icon kind of "shivered" and I got the dreaded hourgl!@#$%^&* cursor. I tried to uninstall Continuum via ctrl-Alt-Del, and the Continuum app kept appearing and disappearing. I ended up restarting the machine, and was then able to uninstall it. I tried a clean install both with the old version, old version with the 3.9 patch, and with the full 3.9 install, all with the same results. Continuum will not initiate. I have read every forum I can find, and havent seen any topic like this. I confirmed my firewall status, and my Norton 2003 virus updates are current. PLEASE HELP! I am having serious Continuum withdrawal! Much Thanks! Quote
Trained Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Have you tried other installs? Like the web install? www.sscentral.com -- Or try disabling your firewall.. Quote
PapaV Posted December 2, 2004 Author Report Posted December 2, 2004 I sure have, trained. I have tried every download I can find, and have diabled all firewalls, and even made myself DMZ, so I have unfettered throughput. Is there a specified TCP/UDP port that MUST be available, do you know? Quote
Bargeld Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Disable antivirus and popup blockers. Quote
MikeTheNose Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Uninstall Continuum and then install it into a "different" directory. Registry problem (alternatively you could uninstall and delete all registry keys for Continuum....not recommended though") Quote
Shock Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Someone had this problem on the Metal Gear forums also. It completely stumped everyone. Quote
Bargeld Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Actually, it's been occuring for years. The most common solution is to turn off your antivirus or firewall software because many of the freeware apps will cause this. You may also wish to right click the shortcut to the game and try some of the different "compatibility" modes. Quote
Guest Guest Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 yeah i had this happen and just did a system restore :\ Quote
