Continuum not opening

Bug: When ran, continuum does 'nothing' ie does not load without error and the process kills and restarts itself several times. If you rename the .exe while this is happening it will throw out an error containing a hex code and die.

After doing some mild tinkering I have found out the cause of this, for me, was panda antivirus. It appears the process protection service and possible others is causing the erratic behaviour of continuum. So likely, if you disable your antivirus/firewall temporarily or any strange non-system processes for such software continuum will load again. As to a fix, I have no idea.

Nope, it happens with lots of different a/v and spyware. They can't all be wrong, I am more prepared to blame Continuum seen as no other program has these issues and it occurs with multiple antivirus and apyware programs.

Technically, this is not a bug in continuum, it is a flaw in the Anti-virus app you are using.

Many of the antivirus programs use "heuristic" methods of "intelligently" detecting new viruii as they are released on the public. If they use similar methods, looking for the same, or similar attributes in an application (such as network access or certain types of compression, whatever) they CAN mistake SS/Continuum as a virus.

I thought heuristic was just file analysis in which case why would it only fail when you actually ran it and if it was mistaken as a virus why do none of them popup with alerts or give indication of this?

I guess the only person that knows all the ins and outs of how continuum works and what could be causing this specifically is priitk...

indeed if a AV or spyware thing is causing it there would be errors and alerts everywhere... continuum isto blame for this i think!

I ran so many diff Anti-virus and firewalls and i have yet to have this happen to me. This will some times happen if you have xp's firewall on.

Some times your admin file will get a bug (xp's admin file) and may make some game and prog not work.

wonder if this bug is ever going to get fixed, according to the FAQ it's inbuilt protection against debuggers, which would make sense as antivirus software would be expected to scan the memory segments of the game, as a debugger would...
