kentbrockman Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 but how many people relize that you can just pm it to the bot? not many. remember when the top 100 was going on? !top100 was typed publicly, constantly.
Yupa Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 well we could _tell_ them, but it honestly doesn't matter, there's nothing wrong with pub msgs
kentbrockman Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 akai does have a good idea to get the bot working... but all in all, i still dont like the method of evening the last guy to die. easily explained: the guys who go after the ball are the guys who care about getting evened. and they die the most. they are the ones that are 'playing with a team'. the guys who try with all there might to live and kill a lot; doesnt matter what team there on - they usually fight alone.
Yupa Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 yes, obviously the person who's spent the least amount of time on the freq should be switched, I don't care if he has the ball or not
kentbrockman Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 and dont even teams just because a team has 2 more people than the other. just doesnt work. usually when i get switched, i quit playing... ooh, teams are uneven again!!!
Greased_Lightning Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 thats cuz you're a whiny runt
»Maverick Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 Past week the team evener has been disabled and it was obvious that it did alot of good then bad. The teams were more uneven then ever. Anyway, we'll see what the poll does
Tex Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I can't remember, EVER being switched ranomdly by the server until that bot came along. So my vote... Ye... N... May...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> If i am not mistaken, doesnt the bot take the last person that died and switch him to the other team? So how could you get switched randomly if you have a high bounty with bot, cause you wouldnt have been the last one to have died? Tex-The Empire
Raem Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 If the last person who died, leaves then I believe the bot goes insane and chooses a random person? or, the person who died before the person who died last, but if that person were to leave, then the person who....you get the idea
»Maverick Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Exactly, it holds a buffer of 50 players who died last. So if it can't get the last, it will get the one before that - and so on. When it totally can't find the last one to die then it will even someone randomly. This is only as a precaution because the bot will always find someone in the list of 50 players (2x50 players that is - 2 teams).
Raem Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I suppose you could, instead of instantly warping a player when 30 seconds are up, the bot could warp them to safety 1st, then switch them, so that they keep bounty/bounce...
Samapico Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 that would be great Raem... plus it's simple to do Go Mav, do it! ... and what happened to the bot who told you your stats when your team loses? I know you had one, don't lie!
Cokey Flo Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Nah.. I like the 'person who has been on the freq the least amount of time' one.. If that's possible......
madhaha Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Yeah I can imagine that. *Switches the last person to join* "Huh?" *Someone from that team quits. Teams get uneven and the same guy is switched again.* "wtf?" The bot is needed but it needs to work in a way that causes least inconvenience. I like the safe switch idea.
Rifleman Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I suppose you could, instead of instantly warping a player when 30 seconds are up, the bot could warp them to safety 1st, then switch them, so that they keep bounty/bounce...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good idea, but /*setfreq (which the bot uses) does not work the same way when you do = in a safe spot. Instead of preserving your bounty and specials, *setfreq in safe will reset your ship. -Rifle
Samapico Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 *say =0 ... gah.. why did they remove that command
GhettoSmurf Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 i remember sitting in the base in fear when uneven teams were announced a couple years ago and i was a lev/lanc w bounce...which seemed to be every time... i never payed attention to what did the evening, but i don't remember there being many (if any) bots around then. was that the server evening teams? cuz that thing was ruthless...and relentless...i vote we stay away from whatever it was that did that.
Raem Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I suppose you could, instead of instantly warping a player when 30 seconds are up, the bot could warp them to safety 1st, then switch them, so that they keep bounty/bounce...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good idea, but /*setfreq (which the bot uses) does not work the same way when you do = in a safe spot. Instead of preserving your bounty and specials, *setfreq in safe will reset your ship. -Rifle<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bah, I thought there would something stupid like that...You could still have the bot warp them to safe and tell the player to =number, and if they don't do it within certain time limit, have the bot setfreq them (and maybe laugh at the player if he/she had bounce/high bounty and refused to manually switch )
»Maverick Posted November 30, 2004 Author Report Posted November 30, 2004 lol Raem, that is not doable right now. Its streching the limit. Switching the one who has been on the freq the least amount of time is not solving the problem either. As madhaha has said its not very convenient for the one who has just joined. Secondly it doesn't prevent the loss of bounce / bounty / super.Instead of this, the one who has died last would be better to get switched - but for people balling isnt this a good solution either. Any other ideas people?
Raem Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 How exactly is that stretching the limit?(and what is this limit you speak of?) Please enlighten me
Yupa Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 You guys are just repeating yourselves now. There have been solutions presented for all the problems; do them or don't do them, but stop !@#$%^&*ing saying "omfg we can't do that NOOOOOO WE CAN'T DO THAT!!".
madhaha Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Akai listens to Maverick for bot advice!
kentbrockman Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 um... when i type =1 to switch frequencies, dont i lose bounce/bounty?
Yupa Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Akai listens to Maverick for bot advice! In his dreams I'm not infatuated with supposed limitations.
