viper16grl Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 Admiral Kirk> The issues with cheating in the old days had NOTHING to do with the security of the client, and everything to do with its lack of continued development. Had VIE stayed in the game and continued to develope the client, even paying absolutly no attention to tightening its security, cheaters would NEVER have become as big an issue as they were. There is proof of this concept strewn ALL over the gamming work with hundreds of MMOG's. Its just that after being burned, some people tend to overreact on the backlash. But as many have stated, thats all well and fine, the client is in a useable state to perpetuate the game as-is and new features are being added, all-be-it at a snails pace. This is being done for free (al though the license agreement for Ctm is more convoluted than many commercial games ^^) and it IS being done. So while in a perfect world, this situation sucks, in the real world, its much better than most other dieing MMOG's had.
madhaha Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 I disagree but we can't reboot the universe to find out which one of us is right. Ohwell.
