sethgod Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 I would think best squad should have a battle till the entire squad is eliminated And whoever is left wins So whats up with all the shortcuts, about kills, hmmmm ? (this is a forum... so if you dont like what i have to say... too bad... ban me... these are my ideas... why else do you have a forum.) i just want set rules... that i can read before the game. Not while im trying to organize my squad... its already hard enough as is... We Are... -sethgodTheEmpire Quote

AndurilFlameoftheWest Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 I have a problem with the fact that if its best squad battle that it comes down to two individuals, who just happen to be in the squad. Statistically Colt had the better squad and if my ignorant dad hadnt kept picking up the phone and disconnecting me, it would have been 4 on 2 colt versus velvet. Instead it was 3-2 then even though they survived all the melee's two from colt were eliminated and it became one v one. Quote

AndurilFlameoftheWest Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 One person won, not the squad. Barring the Dad interruption, 4v2. 4 survival members correlates a strong squad, and only two of the 6 died, the rest either not getting the one kill or was d/c. Quote
thelordoftheland Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 wats your point? ban your dad? Quote
Arianax Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 It was tactical cunningness, you guys should have been able to kill 2 people or at least one of them, giving you better standing in the last round. Quote

And that one person won for the squad. It was a squad effort. So therefore the squad won. Now stop whining about your loss and stop making lame dad excuses. Quote
AndurilFlameoftheWest Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Its not whining im just making an observation, best squad shouldnt come down to a duel. That is what the Best player compe-*BAD WORD*-ion is for. Either set a win total that each squad must get too in the alotted time or just make it purely elimination with out taking players out if they do not get a kill. Quote
Rishadan Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 velvet won. colt lost. Be quiet. gg You said Beware had a bad at-*BAD WORD*-ude. Shut the -*BAD WORD*- up. Anyway, I think you should make this event exactly just like JWL (Give them more than 1 death.) That way you can actually have a decent game instead of randomly hitting some random prox bomb. You give them the 10 min rule so they cant hide? Then dont give them such a huge map to hide in the first place. This isnt SVS, make it 17th. Hope to see you guys in the next and hopefully IMPROVED for the better, BSS. Quote

pen expers Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Hmmm. I think the rules for BSS should essentially be: Last surviving squad wins. One death and that player is out. (I think this is what we had the first month). There shouldnt be any time limits; this isn't counterstrike and I don't think its unreasonable for experienced players to spend 30-60 minutes playing to decide the winner. This also gives more time to develop strategy, ambushes, drawing other teams into traps, etc. You could have a time limit if only 1 player remains in all but one or all remaining squads, if you feel really its necessary, although it should still be a decent amount of time and instead you could allow forfeits if one remaining player doesnt want to continue. All teams with at least 5 players should be able to enter, it shouldnt be invitation only. I think this was the rule this month, its good because it encourages participation which 17th needs. Just some thoughts. Quote
Flash Fish Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 I'm wondering about a thing: I was the only one who got a kill of my squad... ok, so i may come to 2nd round.Time is running down, NOTICE: Game over, and im still alive. I was running kami then, because i thought it doesn't matter anymore.I got killed, msg: "Flash Fish .... is OUT!"But, i got killed after the Notice of Game Over.I didn't got put in again, i was a bit surprised. When EXACTLY game ends? for me, game over means, that the game ended. Quote
Arianax Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 The Game over notice refers to the fact that the ?timer had run out, it automatically says Game over, but in BSS it means Round over, and the next round starts immediately, noone gets put back in. Quote
Aileron Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Well, maybe a reasonable compromise is to allow squad members to "transferr" their surplus kills to their teammates. The last Colt standing had 5 kills at the end of the match. Yeah, and I know the typical response would be "Yeah, why didn't he stop shooting after 2". You guys know that would be a tactical error - effectively removing him from the field for a minute. Mayhaps it would be a good idea to let ppl with more kills than necessary bring back some teammates. It is after all a squad game, and it is a little unfair to have a good team penalized because the distribution of final shots didn't line up nicely. Anyways...congrats to Envenomed. Quote

Samapico Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Beware fix your !@#$%^&* avatar and I think BSS should not have time limits or anything... Just like Pen expers said... And it should stay at a 1 death limit, otherwise it would take very long, due to the large size of the map. Maybe any squad should be allowed too (with a minimum # of players). ... i thought i had more things in my mind to say ... but... my head is empty now... bah... i'm hungry... Quote

Aileron Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Now that I think about it...there is a clearly big problem here. The purpose of the "1 kill/ten minutes" rule was to prevent running and hiding. It provides a more concrete definition of hiding. The problem is that it was used the opposite way...It rewarded Velvet's running and hiding from Colt. This is a loophole. Because of the exact cir!@#$%^&*stances, Velvet turned the "no hiding" rule into "lets run away from Colt so that we can even the odds in ten minutes". I agknowledge that Velvet won...but I also pose a warning to you. Stay away from walls. A few bombs might "accidentally" fly towards your direction if you are on my team. Quote
»Maverick Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 ... thanks for the tip . Staff will be watching for teamkills next BSS Quote
Aileron Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Oh, so that's what we should have done. The skillfull thing to do would have been to have one of us tk another purposefully, then hide, making the odds at the end 2 on 1. Quote
