Zetirix Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 The very beginning of the zone was founded on soccer... thus it should be, and be it should stay. In my opinion anyways. It was a soccer arena, with an option to flag. - Z
kentbrockman Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 actually, im sure the beginning was indeed - flags. ?go original
SeVeR Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 yep originally it was flags. Even when ?go oldmap was in pub it originally only had 8 flags and no soccer. Soccer was added later on. It wasn't a good step. If only we'd just put a couple more flags in those deeper areas of the base and made a pub league, 17th could have turned out so much better.
Emblazon Posted October 30, 2004 Author Report Posted October 30, 2004 !@#$%^&* smg<{POST_SNAPBACK}> um... thank you for your irrelevant opinion ricebowl...
Delic Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 The very beginning of the zone was founded on soccer... thus it should be, and be it should stay. In my opinion anyways. It was a soccer arena, with an option to flag. - Z<{POST_SNAPBACK}> lmfao GOod thread. Uh, this whole pub was made to be about territory. "Fast paced turf style flagging, keep your territory while at the same time trying to take over your adversary's" That's where all the fun lies! The sense that your team has a home base and that you have to fight to control it, while at the same time sending out attackers to take over the enemy base.. I mean wee.. And it makes sense too, if you think about the theme, the name of the zone etc. I think it's obvious that the pub should be turf style flagging bbl
kentbrockman Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 id rather the zone change its name, than turn to flagging..
Delic Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Those who want to turn 17th into something it wasn't made for (and this is what those who've changed things in the gameplay have been doing, weather they know it or not), should just go and make their own zone and leave this one alone, go experiment in a test zone and develop your ideas there. Because a lot of them are good ideas and well made maps with settings that suits them, but they just don't suit THIS zone.
ddaL Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 yea turf map would be the best for 17th, soccer sucks, if i want to play soccer id go to powerballl, not some crappy newbie zone which doesnt do it good
X`terrania Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 I liked it when you used to be able to pickup the flags, made it more fun, and in my humble opinion was alot better then boring old soccer. -X`terr
SeVeR Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Hmm i think it'd be nice to let flags earn more points and expand on the bases a little bit so that there are flagging areas of the two bases aswell as the ones in the goal room. Kinda like in oldmap but instead with our east/west bases expanded. It seems at the moment that the flags are just worthless little things stuffed into the corners of a soccer base.
Yupa Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 What the !@#$%^&* is wrong with how it is now? !@#$%^&*ing newbs. Just take away the ball and you've got DSB. Just take away the flags and you've got PBZ. So quit with the newb polls and don't come back until you have a _complete_ zone reconstruction ready to offer.
Emblazon Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Posted October 31, 2004 I do have a recontructed map slog, so stfu. I have a flagging/soccer idea for pub. In this case, if you control the flag game, your team generally will control the soccer game. What this means is that if you are a soccer player, your team will also have to flag, and vice versa. Check the map out at ?go #SNOo
Yupa Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 having one base also makes the zone DSB - you've got the flags all concentrated up top, though, so it's like a horrible TW-DSB hybrid that makes me want to vomit
Delic Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Hehh! This topic will go on forever until someone steals the owners' computers and change pub themselves, because it seems that nobody in charge have any intentions of making any changes. As I've seen it, staff's always working on things "behind the scenes" but nothing ever really happens, and when they rarely do happen, people freak because the changes they made were silli. Seriously, people have been making pub maps for literally years, and we still have the same map as we had in early 2001. If you ask me, the best change at the moment would be to bring back the opal map + settings.
kentbrockman Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 delic, did you play on halloween? when they had the old settings on? if you didnt, i laugh.
Delic Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 No I wasn't here. Did they do the same thing they did last Halloween? Sillish I say.
»Maverick Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 We didn't do the same, it was quite neat this time Cheers
Delic Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Heh, it's only the permanent changes that matter.. and I don't see any
Yupa Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 If you ask me, the best change at the moment would be to bring back the opal map + settings.Agreed. Did they do the same thing they did last Halloween? It was almost old settings. I'm guessing the inaccuracy was due to newb sysops (always ), but it was close and I blewt up some newbs with a weasel.
Emblazon Posted November 3, 2004 Author Report Posted November 3, 2004 it was exact old settings u newb. if u played back then you would know that. all staff does is loads a cfg file, and i assume they store each setting file before putting up changed ones. and newb sysops? the sysops are definintely no newbs... which further confirms how much of a newb you have to be.
