Guest Where Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 -*BAD WORD*-o. When trying to bind Right Ctrl/Shift/Alt to something like Cloak, the key will simply not function in game. But then, when binding Right Ctrl/Shift/Alt to something like Map, it works perfect. Some info: -Yes, I have it set to distinguish Left and Right CTRL/ALT/SHIFT -Yes, I am loading the key definitions. -No, I don't have Right Ctrl/Shift/Alt bound to ANYTHING else except those commands. And all bindings are defined as either LEFT or RIGHT, none are defined as just "shift", "ctrl", or "alt". And no bindings have conflicts. -My keyboard isn't "!@#$%^&*". I'm 100% sure its not a problem with my keyboard, for reasons I have explained above (CLOAK won't bind to those keys, but things like MAP will, AND the keys work perfectly with other bindings or in other games). I have also tried this on two other different computers with different keyboards, and the same problem arises. Bargeld Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Tested. Since the control/alt/shift keys are considered "modifier" keys. Only certain commands can be bound to them. Commands which, by default, are bound to a modifier key are able to be changed to another modifier key: bullets & map. The exception to the above rule is the Bomb key. You can map cntl/alt/shift to the bomb key. Distiguish left/right works as expected with this scenario. Quote
Guest Guest Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Thank you, the help is much appreciated. I was going nuts trying to figure out how to get it to work. I've noticed that when using default bindings, I can bind ALT to Attach, and it will work. I believe, either when I distinguish it, or at least add a bind to the opposite ALT, the bind that worked for Attach no longer does. Oh well, thanks again, I guess I'll just have to to learn to play WASD or something similar Quote
Bargeld Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 when I started the game, almost 8 years ago, we couldn't adjust the keys. That feature was added maybe 4 years ago, I dunno when. But most people have been able to excel over the years with the default key definitions.Morale of the story: time will teach you any config you choose. Quote
