Guest Canadian Bad A$$ Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Ok, so my college has a brand new network and it looks like all the ports are blocked. Anyway that I can play SS in class?
Spade12 Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 all the ports huh...how are you posting this msg than?
Guest Canadian Bad A$$ Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Ok, all the ports except fot . And I am posting from home.
MikeTheNose Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 School = Not play time. Dormatory = The administrators don't know how to segment traffic from classrooms to the dorms. - MikeTheNose- Subspace Central Network BanG Administrator-------------------------------------"I have never wavered in my commitments to this zone and I am certainly not doing so now." You just did.
Guest Canadian Bad A$$ Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 School = Not play time. Dormatory = The administrators don't know how to segment traffic from classrooms to the dorms. School = boring so play time is yes. Last year the ports were not restricted and I still got all As while playing CS in class. Dormatory = no because there is no student housing and I live at home. C'mon can't I use a proxy or something?
Fluffy White Bunny Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Kindly ask them to free up some ports for "educational use"

ExplodyThingy Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 Ask em to open the server ports so you can claim to develop a game server. The development is going to part of a class !@#$%^&*ignment. Then. dont do it. And just game. ~ExplodyOnions3:MikeTheNose> I use my own insanity to communicate

orb360 Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Look up a program called Socks2HTTP... then find someone with a socks2http proxy... if you find one, let me know cause im in the same situation...
Nurples Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Umm.... CTM uses S-*BAD WORD*-s5 NurplesNeed Web Hosting Cheap? Http://Nurples.com is the answer!!! http://nurples.comhttp://17thparallel.comhttp://ssforum.net
madhaha Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 And you point is? Socks2http takes data intended for a socks proxy, tunnels it via http and presumably gets converted back at the other end. It uses http via port so you can use it through a firewall. Set up a proxy on your home computer if you have broadband. DoCk>> it's shaped like a phallus and i live on a wart on its side Hyrulian> biscuitHyrulian> where in Uk u fromB i s c u i t> spain
orb360 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Yeah... CTM connects to socks2http running on my machine using a the socks5 proxy option... socks2http converts it to http and transfers it to a proxy outside the firewall. This proxy converts it back to socks5 which is then sent to a socks5 proxy which then converts it to a game packet... Hmm at least thats what I think it does... anyways, the only thing allowed in and out of most college networks is HTTP anyways...
madhaha Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Buy a connection Its not THAT expensive. DoCk>> it's shaped like a phallus and i live on a wart on its side Hyrulian> biscuitHyrulian> where in Uk u fromB i s c u i t> spain
Guest Canadian Bad A$$ Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 WTF My school doesn's sell connections, and I have cable at home, I just need to kill time in boring--*BAD WORD*- college.
madhaha Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Set up a local subspace server then. DoCk>> it's shaped like a phallus and i live on a wart on its side Hyrulian> biscuitHyrulian> where in Uk u fromB i s c u i t> spain

Guest Canadian Bad A$$ Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Well isn't there a chat client or something that I can atleast talk to ppl in zones, or would that use the same port as well?
★ SOS Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Everything uses the same port. You're not supposed to play from there!
Guest Zerzera Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Get to know senior students that did some sucking up and have access to network related stuff, worked for me, but that's maybe because I do an IT related study.
Guest Canadian Bad A$$ Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 lol there aren't really any seniors, the college is brand spankin' new. I guess I will just work at school.
