Yupa Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 This is stupid. You can compete for best w/l or most points, you don't compete for best player like this. Most points generally just means you play too much. Best w/l is generally just that you concentrate on never dying. I'm the best baller 17th ever had. Kent is the best bricker. Manus is probably the most celebrated reccer. Pernille is on 24/7, so she's still undoubtedly the points champ afaik. Quote
cloudy Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hey...hey....I'm the best player in 17th you n00bs. Quote
»Maverick Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 You are wrong akai. Most points doesnt mean you play to much. If you kill alot and ball then you gather the points in no time. You wont even have to play much to achieve it.Pernille is on 24/7 yes, that doesn't mean she gets the most points because she is so much on. Vile,4) Unline BPS, no X-Radar will be prized at any point during BSS.Unlike* -MMave Quote
Samapico Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hmm... the BSS ... in what arena will it be hosted? And it's multiship... are duplicate ships allowed (i.e. 2 lancs on the same team) If a player dies once' date=' they are out.[/quote']If a player dies once, his whole squad is out?? Or did you meant "If a player dies once, he's out" ? Quote
Vile Requiem Posted September 19, 2004 Author Report Posted September 19, 2004 BSS rules clarified to address questions. Quote
Samapico Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 that player are out? that seems ungrammatical Oh and I have something else to say... erm.... the Rating thing... it does not have a big meaning... I mean... In SVS zones, higher bounty means more powerful ship... in 17th, higher bounty means either lame greening or kick--*BAD WORD*- killing spray... So to have a big Rating you have to kill high bounty ppl... tho they're not necessarly more powerful, unlike SVS zones... I say we develop our own formula involving W:L ratio and Wins (so not only you need a high ratio, but you need to keep it while having alot of kills).. sure it could not be integrated in the database , but I guess we could have it calculated automatically on a site (compe!@#$%^&*ion.17thparallel.com) ... but.. maybe this is just too much trouble for nothing..... Just to say that I don't like the Rating formula Quote
thelordoftheland Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 i think we should stop people from greening a huge bounty... Quote

DaKillaRoach Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 I played non stop for the first 3 days of the tourn, balling lots and lots. Only 4 people beat those points. Its not hard to get into the tourn on just points. In fact its to easy. Rating doesn't mean much either with all the greening going on :/ Quote
Samapico Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Greening doesn't affect your Rating... killing high-bty people does affect it... But now that they brought back the +25 bty per kill, less people are greening like crazy... cause it's now 4 times longer getting in the !bountyrecord thing by greening.... Quote
Tempest Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 4) Unline BPS, no X-Radar will be prized at any point during BSS. Like like like like like like like like. Quote
Samapico Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 No... it really is 'unline' ... like... undo a line... or curve a straight line... or making very bad typos Quote
Tempest Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 No, I mean I really like the idea. Quote
NBVegita Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 lol well I'm gonna post something I'm surprised hasn't been posted already... These really don't give you the best player in 17th, they more give you the most addicted pubbers in the 17th! As the majority of your very strong players, pub or not, play a very good handful of events. Now not to say that no real good players made the event, but most big javvers, are big javvers because pub got too boring for them. I mean I personally find if difficult to stay in pub for too long, unless someone wants to try to chase my terr around. Ball games haven't been as compe!@#$%^&*ive as more people have been worried about R and Bounty, so being in a base doesn't normally help that out unless you are cloaked or stealthed. I mean really, this event is kinda unfair in certain ways, as I, even when I was in ss a lot, played a fair share of events and pub. But I never had the time to get in the top 20 of points, and I could have gotten top 20 in R, but it would have been a rather boring day to do so :/ Seriously I mean foof got into the R in the last one, but did you see anyone like Sever, H, Epox? -*BAD WORD*- I'd take anyone of those guys in pub any day supposed to half the people that made it into the last best of 17th. I think it would be like holding a duel tourny and naming the winner the best of the 17th, it just doesn't work :/ Ohh and I think akai already did mention this lol Quote
Vile Requiem Posted September 25, 2004 Author Report Posted September 25, 2004 Epox got pwnt rather early in said compe!@#$%^&*ion after being the favorite to win it all.H isn't that far off from being in the top 30 in rating this time around. In the end it came down to 20 people playing on an unfamiliar map, and who found a way to use that map to their advantage. Surprisingly, it was a Levi that did just that and almost made it to the Final Duel, except a weasel doublekilled him This time around, odds are the same people + more qualify and they'll know what's up this time, including NOT letting levis into the castle $ But if you don't win, there's always next month.Between the possibility of there being no winner, and the fact that there's max 12 winners a year !@#$%^&*uming no repeat champs, getting your name up there is a ACCOMPLISHMENT, one that Vile will never get I just find this the best way to determine things, rather then a Rumble where a squad that mainly plays DSB won the darn thing. (ps: also note BSS rule #6, freshly added) Quote
GhettoSmurf Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 by teaming, you meen teaming up with another squad?also, would a tk count towards one of the 4 kills the squad needs per 10 minutes? ^_^ Quote
Vile Requiem Posted September 26, 2004 Author Report Posted September 26, 2004 Absolutely a TK will count.Of course, if you do that, you lose a member though And yes, I mean teaming with another squad. Quote

Naed died from stray burst bullet, etc. -*BAD WORD*- at the start of the match, me, ach, naed and mav all teamed up to kill a few peeps before we split up. This doesn't bind towards the best of 17th. It prehaps increases pub a little, but well I've played now for a full week altogether in pub (3 days and 4 days) to get into the compe!@#$%^&*ion but its already boring me once more. You are right that rumble shouldn't decide it. But nor should this vulching thing. Just bow down and admit I am the best and Veggie likes grapes. Quote
BeWaRe Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Vulching and laming are the name of the game and it doesn't work well for the 'best of 17th'<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can't go 5 mins without someone yelling about them getting typekilled/burstkilled/bricked/vulched/killed by a and how lame it is. Seems like it would work great to me. Quote
Manus Celer Dei Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 While I'd have to tentatively agree with nbv and say that a compe!@#$%^&*ion of this style doesn't give anyone a definitive answer as to who "the best in the zone" is, but nonetheless it would be an interesting event and one I feel I'd be keen on when I get back to the game. I personally judge the "best in zone" as the person I'd most prefer to have on my team as a wingman/woman, regardless of cir-*BAD WORD*-stances. I can think of about 12 people off the top of my head who would make it, and some probably haven't been considered at all for this event. (not including people who don't play anymore *cries*) [OT] I have cravings for private freqs in pub for some reason, can we try that after I get back? [/OT] Quote
DaKillaRoach Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Already tried it and it went great! ^_^ Quote
Rishadan Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I think it shouldnt be one kill elim because that barely prooves if you're better than the other person. Like if you're against someone who lags alot, and its a Jav/Weasel matchup well then its lopsided. It should be 3 deaths for single and maybe 5 deaths for team? I dont know, but I think it shouldnt be 1 death. Also, what are the rules regarding lag Quote
epox Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 [OT] I have cravings for private freqs in pub for some reason, can we try that after I get back? [/OT]<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hear you, Manus. A couple of weeks ago Vile allowed an hour or so of private freqs of 2 ppl and then 3 ppl. It was a good start in my opinion but what can you do with 3 people when there's 30 other people playing the ball game? You can make an exclusive turret or maybe cloak swarm some people but the ball game is pretty much out of the question for most people when you're 2 or 3 people vs. 30. I say we pick a day out of the week or a time of day that pub is the most populated and allow private freqs of up to 5 people (enough for a decent squad team). That would be so fun. Sorry this was off topic but I really want private freqs too and it was brought up. Quote
Samapico Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Private freqs makes the ball game weird... the private freq would score in the same goal as the main even/odd freq (depending if the freq# is even or odd.. obviously) Quote
