CreatiX Posted January 29, 2005 Author Report Posted January 29, 2005 whats wrong about the setts? Quote
»Maverick Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 visit one of the hockey / football zone's and you'll see Quote
CreatiX Posted January 30, 2005 Author Report Posted January 30, 2005 As far as i know we are 17th. what has that to do with soccer zones? however: ==// SQUAD SIGNUPS ARE OPEN \\== Read news.txt (hope pern gets to upload it soon). And check www.sblball.info.ms for further information. Quote
StockholmSyndrome Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Um... to conduct this properly you are going to need a set of ERs (at least) to run the matches just in case various rules like crease, goal keepers crossing lines and other things aren't broken. Going to take alot of work :\ Quote
»Maverick Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 And check www.sblball.info.ms for further information.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>http://sblball.17thparallel.com* or http://www.17thparallel.com/sblball*nice site btw, Creatix various rules like crease, goal keepers crossing lines and other things aren't broken.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I guess we can get a bot fixed to check these rules. Naedhaha Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I said you can start after JW3...JW3 is still going on so wtf are you doing? Quote
CreatiX Posted February 2, 2005 Author Report Posted February 2, 2005 i have talken to pernille and she told me itd be allright to start signups. check when the first match is beeing played. oh.. and btw, this is nyb at all, is it? polite?<3 anyway Quote
StockholmSyndrome Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Considering he was the league coord surely it does involve him still with his JavWar league still running? Quote
CreatiX Posted February 2, 2005 Author Report Posted February 2, 2005 as naedhaha is not 17th Parallel staff, thers no need for discussion in my eyes. Quote
Rishadan Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 I've tried to run this god !@#$%^&* league 3 times and IT ALWAYS FAILED. This event is like the gd boy who cried wolf ffs. It will fail. Quote
StockholmSyndrome Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 as naedhaha is not 17th Parallel staff, thers no need for discussion in my eyes. I see you are one to show respect. The amount of things you will have to watch, keep track of, etc. will mean you need multiple refs to run a single match. I can't see a bot being set up that somehow monitors when a goalie crosses their blue line, when a jav enters crease of when a ball is scored over crease. There are several other factors also involved - prehaps if you try talking to the Hockyzone staff they might lend you a bot. As far as I see it in terms of multiple leagues it is bad practise to run one league over another even if it is only the recruiting stage of things. Also pushing league upon leagues near the start of the year (from what I have heard at least another league is coming up after sblball and the possibility of another one starting while sblball is going on) frankly seems almost an overdose of this style of play. But still, we all learn from our mistakes. Hope it goes well for you. Quote
Naedhaha Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Plus 4% ploss etc is stupid...lag balls Quote
CreatiX Posted February 3, 2005 Author Report Posted February 3, 2005 hmm, im planning to run the league matches as normal sblball matches are beeing run: using F5 and /*lag . Hmm rish, u tried it 3 times and it failed? diddnt even recordnize there was sblball league b4. doubt u tried it 3 times in the 6 weeks i havent been around?! however, what was the reason for the league(s) to fail? so maybe i can learn from your mistakes.... The only way sblball league can fail in my eyes is a lack of interest from (gramatically right ?)the players. But no league is aware of that and ill try my best to make it popular. and about the early signups: the fact that they already opened are just a plus of time for the squads to get a team signed up. nothing else. uh oh, and beware will help me so im pretty sure it gonna be fun for the players and even staff aswell. -crep.s. i dont like bots. i dont use them for hosting. StockholmSyndrome Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 hmm, im planning to run the league matches as normal sblball matches are beeing run<{POST_SNAPBACK}> The last few sblball matches I have played in, no offence to staff but crease limits are often broken. Some are by pure mistake of speed, others are deliberate (especially when it comes to javs saving the ball on goal line) but these things are often ignored. Again, wasn't an attack no staff, just saying you will need to correct your Event Referees upon that. Quote

Rishadan Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 The first time I was co-coordinator with a ex staffer by whos name I forget (he was Enterprise25's roomate). The day before the matches were scheduled to start he fell off the face of the earth and didnt come back until like a year later. We attempted the first sblball league a couple weeks after I helped develop it with Enterprise, maybe you werent staff here then, don't know. The second and third times, the players didnt bother showing up to their matches and there too many forfeits. I used 3 different methods for all seasons, the first one I let people make their own teams, the second was squad only and the last one I ran a actual player draft. Problem with letting people make their own teams and allowing them to be squad only, is that SBLBALL is supossed to be a "fun" event that shouldnt be taken seriously and brings in the more casual and non-league players. So by letting players stack their own team would bring down the enthusiasm of people joining the league. The problem with the draft, was that it took so long. Also, much like JWL and other events needed for captains, teams would often attempt to try and stack their teams by telling people to join the arena at certain times. To prevent this, I only allowed pre-signups for the draft and you had to be there at a certain time or you couldnt participate. Needless to say, I only got about 30 people in the draft room when we were about to start, so I /*zoned that anyone who wanted to play could go to the room to be selected. I think we almost hit a new record population that day. The draft went somewhat smoothly only to be stopped for potential cheaters (using the method above). After all that work though, no one showed up for their matches or teams didnt get along and they went bust. I'm probably the most enlightened (if not, one of) people on the subject of that event and its actually almost impossible to run a league off of it. People just dont care about it enough to take it seriously as you need no less than 12 people to have a game. Also, hosting a league where approx. 30 people actually want a league, you arent going to get a very powerful league. I think it would benefit the zone if you scrapped SBLBALL and maybe hosted a league that would help players with their Javving or perhaps host a weekly/bi-weekly elim event that would give a boost to the population. You can host the SBLBALL league if you like, I'm just saying its not worth the time/effort. You should instead host a league where you know you will get people to come out and play (JWL , SBL , RRL , Duel League , Elim League , 2v2 League, even a "Pub" League). Benefit 30 (Sblball) or 70 (all-around) players? Which one seems more likely? Quote
Delic Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 RISHY SBLBALL LEAGUE _SEPTERRA_ 4 LIFE DEWD! Yeah, SBLBall has always failed.. And the last Duel Leagues failed as well.. But.. so did Elim League? And Vile's ?go league was a joke. I think we should just blow up the whole fukking zone and start over again. WHO'S WITH ME Matrix: We are 17th but this is a balling league, isn't it? ;/ It just isn't as fun with these setts. Quote
