Yeah I saw this on another forum of another game.

 

Thought I would birng this across considering everyone seems to consider another a geek, nerd, etc. and yet they are worse themselves :/

being geeky has no play on your reputation

being a nerd does

 

here is my definition

 

geek - someone who has a higher than average knowledge and attraction to a certain hobby or subject. ex-band geek, computer geek, science geek, sports geek, etc

 

nerd - a geek who spends all of his/her time gaining more and more knowledge from researching and reading books, journals, articles, etc...on a single subject. This person also lacks any social skills at all, due to the fact that they only have the ability to communicate with inanimate objects.

 

now...by my definition...we are geeks in our own kinda ways

for example

I have a very large knowledge of the Star Wars movies...I am a Star Wars geek.

I have a very large knowledge of computers...I am a computer geek

BUT...I am not a nerd...because I am also a video game geek

I have a large interest in sports, especially in Baseball and American football...I play softball, flag football, volleyball, basketball, billards, darts, and I regularly can be seen doing 12 oz curls at the local pub

 

all of that ^ equals social life and ability to interact with others

 

being a geek is fine...it just means that you have a personality

 

nerds need to be beat up over and over and over again until they realize that the only way for them to not get beat up anymore is by learning how to interact with those of us who are not nerds

 

btw...if nerds ever manage to get friends and start grouping together...very often you will see results like those in Colorado at Columbine High School

nerds are smart. they do science.

 

geeks dont need to be smart. they can just be great at comics.
