The Maurauder Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I am creating this thread to post suggestions for CNL. Before posting an idea, PLEASE read all the previous posts to make sure that you are not repeating an idea. To the developers: I know you might have heard some of these ideas before or are already working on them, but please be patient. We cannot read your minds and are just putting these ideas out there. Also, many things could be extremely difficult to create, I understand how hard it could be to make some of these things work ."(?)" designates an area which will require discussion. My suggestions: 3 Levels of Graphics: Low would have basic polygons with no complex textures. (current graphics)Medium would have basic polygons with complex textures on all objects.High would have smooth, subdivided objects with complex textures. (hard to make :/) Up to 5 levels of weaponry maybe:1-Red2-Yellow3-Blue4-Purple5-White (?) More advanced points and purchasing system:Different types of "Credits" earned by scoring goals, making kills, flag game, etc.Better purchasing system, such as keeping the items you buy after death and being able to use them until the next score reset. MORE SPECIALS!!!:We all love the strategy that develops form specials, maybe you could add new stuff.Possibly something that causes enemies around you to steadily lose energy while it is active. The ability to drop a "Nav beacon", a warp point that can be used multiple times by any player on your team. It would be destructable maybe, but have no time limit. (?)Tractor beams, they're self explanatory. Being able to survive outside of a ship:It would be awesome to move around as simply a human in a spacesuit, and to choose a ship you would move towards one and hit a key. That key could also be used as an eject, so you cold escape death and possibly be rescued by a teammate, or become an enemy's hood ornament. You would spawn inside the space station, in a "docking bay" of sorts. There would be ships docked that you jumped into. This area would be a safe zone. Also, yiou could have a laser pistol that you could shoot use as a weapon outside of the ship, and possibly even be able to run around inside the station and waste your friends. (?)
1868 Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 It'd be fun to fly around to look for people that are just drifting in a spacesuit. Nice idea for a feature, Ramming them...
The Maurauder Posted October 18, 2004 Author Report Posted October 18, 2004 Yeah it would also be cool if you could float around and then hijack someone's ship, that would be hilarious. Adding on to the idea about different credit types: Goal credits could be used for things such as increased ball throwing speed or ball time. Kill credits could be used to buy better weapons, specials, etc. Flag credits could be used to increase or decrease flag time depending on user preference (Non-turf flagging style).
DaKillaRoach Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Coming in usful for once eh Maur?
The Maurauder Posted October 19, 2004 Author Report Posted October 19, 2004 Roach, this is a forum for intelligent discussion, if you are going to post here, post good, useful comments. Also, to go along with movement outside of ship, it would be good to be able to update your character outside oft he ship, more powerful blaster, better propulsion system (jetpack), or even light shields maybe.
Dav Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 As far as your colours are concerned you would need: RedYellowOrangeBluePurple Note increasing energy therefore decreacing wavelength of light. also would just plain look cooler.
The Maurauder Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 wouldnt that be :RedOrangeYellowBluePurple yeah anyways would be cool
Paine Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 how about close-range EMP pulses without a bomb firing in a cone-shaped space ahead of the ship, with it having a stronger effect the closer it was to the ship? or... maybe... upward firing weapons? Heat-seekers? Tractor beams? XD
MillenniumMan Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Yeah it would also be cool if you could float around and then hijack someone's ship, that would be hilarious. Adding on to the idea about different credit types: Goal credits could be used for things such as increased ball throwing speed or ball time. Kill credits could be used to buy better weapons, specials, etc. Flag credits could be used to increase or decrease flag time depending on user preference (Non-turf flagging style).<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can you imagine what that would be like??? I can But one thing at a time. Still trying to reconcile the freezing up issue.
The Maurauder Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 Awesome MM read my stuff! So l33t... Anyways yeah that pic is hilarious. Keep up the good work and see if you can get some version of CNL downloadable please.
The Maurauder Posted October 26, 2004 Author Report Posted October 26, 2004 I have played it and i t seems very cool so far, but onet hing that would make it better would be using the mouse to control direction, and using arrows for foreward/backward thurst and roll to side controls.
Luminari Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 Why restrict yourself to one type of weapon with different colors. It would be so cool if you could create any kind of weapon (take a look at Star Control 2, the video game for a good illustration of what I mean). Then we could create ships that fire missles, or only shoot continuous lasers, or how about little robots that fly around you and emulate your fire (like gradius) There are so many possibilities.
deadonarrival Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Maybe theres a way of totally disabling a ship, kinda like ctm has now with engine shutdown And you can only steal another ship when its disabled Also how about some space turrets you can only go in when out of a ship, and some that you fix your ship into and it fires higher level bullets or how about little robots that fly around you and emulate your fire... somebody has too much time with mervbot is cnl for real? iv seen the site but nothing seems to be happening, does it work? is it ever gonna get finished? sh*t like that
deadonarrival Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 OFF TOPIC Millenium, those screenshots for real? Where can i get those mods!!!
Paine Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Me wanty customisable player-box (f2) lists.
protoman.exe Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Yeah maur , you got some good ideas , so its basicly like a normal game , you got your zones and all , but what we really need is voice comm ingame , I also like your ideas with the being able to eject and all , but we also need to be able to customize our camera angles and all. not just a few options
»SOS Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 But but but.... CNL hasn't been active for years However, you could do a suggestions thread for the normal variant of the game in the normal dev forum, in case someone ever does a sequel.
Freakman Bob Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 How about full-rotatable turrets (up, down, sides, anyway! )? That would be awesome, as well as bombs that went so slow they'd fall down..
protoman.exe Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Lets say your flying along in your lil wb , then some levi bomb comes outta no where and shoots your wing off. You dont explode (yet) , But you vent some of your gas's and all , and then you can blow up or be dead in the water. Oh yeah , you can also get your exhaust shot off , parts of your ship shot off , if you get shot in the !@#$%^&*pit , the top should blow off and you see a guy getting thrown through space , have blackholes that rip apart ships that get to close , throw in some planets that you can land on , (give em a stargate) , Uhmm , Custom ships , Like , its all the same but you can paint it and add logo's and all. You can control your ship with a controller or mouse and keyboard.
