Lanvalk Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 Once again, I'm brought back here with Ninja's old idea for sharks, except, this time it's better. The Shark shall start with only 4bty, consisting of L2 Guns and L2 BombsIt shall have 2 "Slots", sorta like Upgrade Slots, except different, since a Shark can't have upgrades.Instead, you can fill those two "Slots" with any item or special. Thus, you could buy yourself the standard shark, with 1 Repel and Prox, or go for something new, such as 2 bursts, or a thor and Xradar (really helpful for the newbs to have this). And, if we take it one step farther... we can actually use that random safe in Sector 2, coordinates N7 as probably a "Shark Shop" to buy stuff for the shark, just to make things more complicated (or cheaper, if you're crazy enough to go thru the work for that).Another suggestion was to make the shark buyable under these cir-*BAD WORD*-stances.Any suggestions or feedback on this idea would be appreciated ^_^
FunkmastaD Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I think with that once the new sets are in place there will be no freebie newbie ship and the shark will be a normal usable ship.
a n00b. Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 i say shark should start out as 4-6 bty and you should be able to upgrade it... but you dont have to pay for it.
Kilo Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Yes, why not just have everyone start with a ship that, well, doesn't suck so badly, and yet, they can upgrade it? The only drawback, I suppose, is that then most newbs will use the shark.
a n00b. Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 maybe change the prices for upgrades and items?
Kilo Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 That's one thought, but newbs already burn their money on just a few upgrades as it is. On a related note, it'd be nice to see certain inexpensive-but-effective items (repel, bounce, multi) get a significant price increase.
rogh Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 a draw back would be that if a person choose to buy prox for the shark, the shark's prox wouldn't last forever.
Kilo Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 There has got to be a way to make prox good but not so good that it doesn't last forever. Example: very low fuse delay, or make the blast radius smaller, or make bombs weaker. Making people buy something again doesn't really make it any less 'cheap.'
