Combating the Lag Beast

Okay, i know i will get the "is you you 56ker, blah blah yakey smack", but for the past two days i have lagged up the yin yang and i havent been downloading any thing and i have the yahoo anti spyware/adware tool bar, so i shouldnt have any spyware on here slowing it down. I havent lagged this much for a long while even with 56k, i usually can stay in the game for more than 2 minutes.Cuz right now i have one of the best ratings in the game and a good rec going, and i dont want this if im gonna be in that tourney, or more importantly if i keep lagging im not gonna be able to play at all any more. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Like spyware could cause so much lag. It's probably a -*BAD WORD*-ed up router somewhere, you cant do anything about it.

lol does yahoo has their own now? That sounds like adware and spyware to me.

Use Ad-Aware or Spy Bot instead. Those are proved tools to detect and remove adware and spyware.

 

Another thing you can try;

Type in the command prompt 'pathping www.sscuservers.net'. This program is a combination of ping and tracert. After it has calculated everything for a while you might be able to see where the problem is.

Day 3 and still laggy. I checked out the trace thing on the game, of course i see the top two are the servers that i am closest too,t hen on down the list there are 3 i guess u call them ports which have like 85% packet loss, with a red bar , is that whats lagging me?

I know when I was lagging I was running on a comp which memory was drained from too many invisable progs and such like.

 

It created lag from the top 3 routes/ports and that meant I couldnt play for like 5 months. Ah well, I can play again now although even when laggy I came in alot

Snap MMav, Adaware and Spy-bot are what i use, and they're pretty effective.

Haha..yeah..I had that aol broadband stuff at home for a few years...it was horrible. The top 3 jumps had 50% packetloss (the aol routers) so I couldnt play. One quick call to Time Warner and I was switched to RoadRunner...but they didnt cut the aol account off, so I could still use it today if i wanted. Har.

Yeh spybot is great for deleting files your OS kinda needs

I had the highest lag in the zone.

 

I was ridiculous, I cant remember what it was but think 6 digits :/

Woot, it finally got fixed yesterday afternoon somehow, and i returned to my rear kickin ways. but yeh, two of them servers on the trace list i had had 85 percent packet loss.

Playing Subspace is kind is always kinda iffy for me with my yakey smack 56k modem. Some days I get spec'd for C2S or no data from server messages. Otherdays I run with 0 disconnects.

 

The moral of this story is someone needs to buy me broadband.

Wow, I had that problem also, except it was just my screen jumping over and over and it took me hours to figure out that there was a keylogger on my csxss.exe or something like that in my data folder, that is what I get for having the outgoing-incoming e-mails on my fire set on ._.!!
