DaKillaRoach Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 Thought this might interest some people. Changes to your MSN® Hotmail® account As you probably know, your MSN Hotmail account is changing for the better. From this autumn, all free Hotmail accounts will have a 250MB inbox, as well as the ability to send and receive attachments of up to 10MB. With MSN Calendar, you'll also be able to manage your time more efficiently by sharing your calendar with others. You'll also get twice the amount of spam protection with the ability to block up to 500 specific e-mail addresses or entire domains. Your Hotmail account is already the only free global e-mail service that both scans and cleans incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses and worms. Plus, Microsoft Smartscreen technology gives you a choice between 3 spam filtering levels, including our exclusive spam-free inbox. Hotmail also allows you to express yourself with rich text editing, custom signatures, photo e-mail and more! Quote

»Maverick Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Can I ask WHY? It really isn't something special, for christ sake its an e-mail Most of you won't even use it after the first week - There are e-mail services out there that are actually better than Gmail, but an email is an email. Strangly enough, no matter how much AOL does suck its E-mail is scarily quite good, I use it alot for picking up forum threads.and Gmail sucks Anyway... invitation send -MMave Quote
Zetirix Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Uh, yahoo already has the 250 mb inboxes...(?). - Z Quote

»Maverick Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 1) Disable your firewall or open up port 21 on it2) Download ftp server software3) Install it at your home computer4) Create an account with username and password on it and make it have write access to a directory on your computer5) Goto www.whatismyip.com and remember your ip (write it down)6) Leave your computer on7) Goto school On your school type 'ftp://' (type your writtened down ip number instead of )9) Enter your username / password (if you can't, goto menu File / Login As...)10) Copy / paste any files you like. 11) The files get uploaded directly to your computer at home It's not that hard -MMave Quote
DaKillaRoach Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 Ah, just asked my teacher about the whole FTP thing and its a no go it seems. He has asked a few times over the years but the ICT head department has said no incase someone tries and uploads games, viruses, etc. So basically it seems I will have to get a 246mb USB memory stick thingy instead of this FTP thing. -*BAD WORD*- school and its worries. As if I would upload games, music, a chat feature and possibly viruses when I leave onto the school computers ¬¬'' Quote
»Maverick Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 You dont setup the ftp server at school, you setup one at your home computer which you access from school...But.. ftp transfers (port 21) might be blocked at your school -MMaverick Quote
DaKillaRoach Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Yeah thats what I mean. Port 21 at school (along with most over ports have been blocked by the school) Means we have to use USB memory sticks Don't even have cd drives Quote
»Maverick Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Lol... Btw. I just found a 256 mb usb stick at my collega some days ago $$ (and nobody turned up looking for it) -MMaverick Quote

»Maverick Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Yes but I must have accidently removed that Still... if that person is not looking for it, who am I to go looking for him to return it? Don't think so! -MMave Quote
