Subject - How to Map.

Ok, many people sometimes come into MG or Trench Wars and ask "W0W!111!1!1!!! UBER MAP, HOWE U MAEK DAT MAP!1!?!11 HOW?!?!11?!1"

Well, here is a little subject on how to map... by me.

How to map -

First what you first have to understand is to NOT make a tileset before you map. It only creates confusion.

Now, open a new blank map with the original tileset there. When you first start to map, you might want some pointers -

~ Do not tileset correctly. So like, just choose 1 tile. And always map with it, until you have completly finished your map.

But why?

- Because it saves a -*BAD WORD*-load of time and work, easy to delete.

~ Don't start off with a big base.

But why?

- Because, you do not know how to map yet do you? Plus, it really confuses everything and players do not really like big bases that take 5 minutes to get into the flag room.

Now, let's start to map.

1) The center of the map is always the coords - 512 512. Now, go to 512 512, and mark it with any tile.

2) What you have to do when you start to map, is to think of a base. Think like it's a maze with no exit, and picture that there.

3) When you map, start with the "outside" bit of the base you see in your head. So, let's say I want a square base, you (with the 1 selected tile and nothing else) do that square. I reccomend that you make it 2 tiles thick.

4) Now that you have done that, you have to make your bse playable. Don't make it a really tight base, only 2 tiles wide. Make it at least 5 or 6. So that people can actually run instead of stopping every 2 tiles. Many new zones make this mistake, and they soon regret it... Like I did.

5) Start you base with a maze like one. You have to leave some space for a flag room (FR) wherever. Reccomended place would be at the top right corner. Make it big so it is actually a room instead of another passage.

6) Now, you might want to add a few safes inside it. Make the safe only 1 tile. Reccomended place to put them are on corners, but not every corner. Too many safes - Too much trouble (Quickwin, freqhopping etc) Make sure the safe(s) are not right in the corner, make it 1 tile away from the walls.

Now, your done!

This post is just a very simple guide on how to map.

Some examples will be avaliable at this post when I get my new computer back (I am using a library computer ;P)
