FunkmastaD Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 If the goals crack the 2k mark I usually will toss the ball into an empty base and bail to make goals less frequent and have the ballers actually DO something to earn the moneyIf goals are 3 or 4k then I'll get some people together and have fun impeding the ballers progress.This isn't basing in the sense of me guarding it, this is just a challenge to you to fight other ballers in a base for the advantage of leaving the base with the ball in your team's possession.Balling needs to change, and I'm certain it will...its all just a matter of time. Kilo Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 The problem is the path to the goal is short. This style of balling is okay, but not when dealing with a virtual economy. If the path to the goal was longer, then goal rewards could be fixed, thus killing two birds with one stone. Heck, the goals are fairly skill-less now, it's probably enlarged the problem of one person being able to struggle through a team of five. There were a couple of ideas that flew by me yesterday, one of them being that scoring goals could increase the jackpot by some amount (Star_Wolf), thus making it advantagous to flaggers and ballers alike to have the ball scored as much as possible. Another was to have goals at the end of bases (Ed), thus pretty much eliminating the problem of unbasing a ball I described above. If one or more or those ideas were implemented, I imagine it would fix some problems or at least tune them down. Quote

You kind of support the idea ball basing, but your giving an alternative to ball basing. Are you for it or against it? Quote

I only believe that the goal prize needs to come down and that if the goal price is high anything that slows down the almost constant goal messages is a blessing. Quote

Make it, so that you have to take the ball to 8, then to another warper which makes you go around the outside (hypertunnels) in a square (because a blocker disallows you to take a shortcut) to the other side where you will then be warped to the goals, then raise the goal formula and goal freqency will drop but people will still have a reason to if the goal reward is high. I'm just presenting an idea to make the jackpot seem more attractive. It doesn't matter if we can stop anyone or not. It matters that they CAN do it all at once and thats the problem. Quote
