Guest Will Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 -*BAD WORD*-o to all that read this. I have played continuum on and off for three years. During that time I have learned many of its rules, and I have never been banned nor suffered from other similar problems. Today, however, I tried to create a new account (something which I have done many times before). Unfortunately the first name that I came up with was taken. I really wanted the name, so I tried different versions of it. Unfortunately, I guess I did it too many times. I finally got the following error message: "You have tried to login using the wrong password too many times. Please try again in a few hours." I have to admit that the error I got angered me greatly. Through no fault of my own I was forced to be unable to play for many hours, and I was scheduled to play for my squad. All I ask is this: after someone makes a player password mistake, please have the error box inform them that if they make too many mistakes they will be unable to play for a few hours. If I had known that I would have given up and a). returned to my other account or . come up with an entirely original name. I know that security measures are necessary, but I feel as if legitimate players of the game should not be adversely affected by badly thought out security measures such as the one I encountered. I am aware of the difficulties of programming, but I am equally aware that it would be quite possible to disallow someone from inputting a password ON A PARTICULAR NAME too many times...and then stop them from inputting further attempted passwords on that same name, while still allowing them to try other names. - Thank you for your time,Will
