ASSS question

hokay, so

 

hyperspace is the only zone (ssc wise) that i can't connect to when i have my smod password on (from another zone). now since hyperspace just happens to be ASSS, just wanted someone to confirm my theory that it's the cause of ASSS.

Isn't it a bit risky to throw on your SMod password on your main account anyway? Wouldn't you create a different profile that had it when in that other zone and one that didn't have it for being anywhere else?

 

As for if this is ASSS related, my guess is that it forwards the whole password to the biller, and subgame probably cuts off the smod password before sending it to the biller. I have no idea if this is actually the case, though.

i do have 2 accounts, one smod one not, however, having my smod password on when i connect to another zone is as "risky" as connecting with your password! what difference is there if i have my smod p!@#$%^&* on my regular password? either way, no one sees my password.

Yes, ASSS does not support staff passwords during login.

Yes, but generally aren't staff passwords used for a group of staff? So if someone got ahold of your staff password, then wouldn't they be able to attack your zone with mod or higher powers?

yes, all smods in GW have the same smod password. but i don't think you read my previous post, or i didn't explain myself well.

 

i can log into any SSC zone with either my password OR my password with the smod password attached to it.

 

either way, NOBODY can see my password. get it?

 

how would somebody get ahold of my smod password? if they did, they'd get a hold of my regular password as well, understand?

 

there's no risk involved.

I was mostly referring to the possibilty of using the smod-enabled profile on a non-SSC server specifically designed to steal passwords. Actually, I have no clue whether that's even possible, but I'm just speaking hypothetically: there really is no risk at all as long as you're on SSC servers.

if i am foolish enough to get my password stolen, i desrve to lose my smod password as well.

 

at least that's my philosophy, as far as computer related stuff goes.

i always hear people complain of spyware/worms/virii/etc...

i tell them, if you got infected, you had a hand in it, and you deserve what you get.

I try never to say anything like that, because I know if I did, fate would come knocking and I would get a password eating virus within a week.
