Bak Posted August 29, 2005 Author Report Posted August 29, 2005 Well the problem with having both available is that no one will pick the unfamiliar format. Imagine if you needed to download a file and you could get a .hhr, .it4, .yll, or .zipNo one would research the other formats and download a compatable program for the one they deem best. It might take a few more seconds to compress, but that's well worth the time considering it will download half a second faster for one or two hundred people (!@#$%^&*uming it doesn't take any longer to uncompress). The difference isn't much for this program(because the majority of the download is already compressed .jar files), but it's significantly smaller for most types of files. Anyways, there's a newer version out on the site that fixes some layout issues Smong was having, but no new functionality.
»D1st0rt Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Just because IE didn't (doesn't?) support PNG and a lot of people use it shouldn't keep that superior image format from being used.
Bak Posted August 30, 2005 Author Report Posted August 30, 2005 Why isn't MNG being used instead of animated GIFs or to make simple interactive images? The only thing I can think of is that it's unsupported (both on browsers and with editors).
»D1st0rt Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Plus I've never even heard of it for a start
»D1st0rt Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 PNGs are never compared with animated GIFs
Bak Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 http://www.libpng.org/pub/mng/#history Update 8-30-05 Added alternate hotkeys for zooming in preferences; using the menu zoom now zooms to the center of the screen. Use of the radar will be remembered across sessions.
ShadowRipper Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Bak, first of all allow me to ay thank you, this program works very well and saves many MANY hours of redundant work in calculating pixels/tiles. I have a few things to ask and suggest, if that's alright. 1. Why does the LVZ packer automatically converts the images into a PNG format? Can a function be added to select if I want to change it to PNG or keep it in it's current format?I'll tell you why. Today, for example, I made an animated lvz, the image was a JPG sized 480KB, and when used with the !@#$%^&* editor, it turned it into a 2.7MB LVZ, because the PNG was huge. 2. I have a Microsoft Mouse which has a neat wheel that scrolls both up/down and left/right, can you please add support for this function of scrolling left/right? 3. I was using small LVZ images (16x16) to replace the safe zone tiles, with animated lvz "tiles", and the only way to add the images was one by one, is it possible to make the "fill" and other tools to be functional with LVZ images as well as tiles? Again, thanks for a great tool
Bak Posted September 15, 2005 Author Report Posted September 15, 2005 Good news guys. I'm taking a class in software design and do!@#$%^&*entation and I've managed to convince my group to work on CLLT (Continuum Level / Lvz Tool, shh don't tell) for our semester long project. So that means tons of new features for us! If there's anything you want, now's the time to request it. Here's what I got so far: Ellipse / Ellipse Fill ToolBetter Retile interfaceLayersFill ToolRegion Fill ToolAllow Lvz and Regions to be selected and copy / pastedAutodetection of "walls" for the EZ Tile ToolJPGs remain as JPGs (instead of being converted to PNGs)Low Memory mode for lvz like gravbomberCompletely customizable hot keysMutliple "walls" defined by the EZ Tile ToolExport as plain .lvl optionAutotile background optionPossibly encorporate screenobjects / file overridesBetter image manipulation system (use external editors like photoshop). ----------------------- Thanks, shadow. The mouse wheel issue is one with Java, so unfortunatly I don't think that will get done. Your safe zone animation could be done more easily once I encorporate lvz into being a selection (so you can create 4, copy, paste, now you have 8, copy paste, 16... 32...).
ShadowRipper Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Are those features you have already done, or that you have planned to do?
»Maverick Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Here's what I got so farIt's what he has as requests already
Samapico Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 cool!-Diagonal tiles for EZ tiles-Possibility to edit the selection i.e. Select a square, then select/ctrl+drag to add/remove from selection-For multiple lvz placing, I suggest a 'tile LVZ' feature, allowing user to tile a lvz image from X Y, with H x V number of "tiles" i.e. Tile background lvz from 0,0 , put 20 of them horizontally, and 25 vertically. Would work for tiling small 16x16 lvz's too, like SR suggested -Special tiles issue: they appear weird when you zoom out... some appear straight black, so you doNt, see them... assign a specific color for each-!@#$%^&*igning a different radar/zoomed out color for fly-over / fly-under tiles would be great too, like SSME showed flyunders light blue Some things that might be useful for users with relativly slow computers (like me):-A drop-down list to use zoom... instead of having to zoom 4 times, and have the map load 4 times... select directly the desired zoom level-A GOTO tool... enter XY coords and the map will be scrolled directly to that location
ShadowRipper Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Hey Bak, any idea when we can expect a newer version to be out? I'm just dying for some new features
Bak Posted September 27, 2005 Author Report Posted September 27, 2005 I think late october and then bi-weekly updates until christmas.
Bak Posted September 28, 2005 Author Report Posted September 28, 2005 unless you meant on subspacedownloads.com, which I don't have any idea when that one will get updated. Always get your version off of the official website, http://www.rshl.org/!@#$%^&*/.
Samapico Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Suggestion: Make LVZ "snap-to" adjustable... instead of only being able to snap to tiles, allow it to snap each 2, 4, or 8 pixels...
Bak Posted November 9, 2005 Author Report Posted November 9, 2005 while we're working on it, the bi-weekly releases will go up at http://sourceforge.net/projects/continuumlt
»Maverick Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 ! Unexpected end of archive! Continuum_Level_Tool_11-6-05.zip: Either multipart or corrupt ZIP archiveyup...
»D1st0rt Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 (edited) much better FYI, you spelled license incorrectly Edited November 12, 2005 by D1st0rt
