LVZ LVL RGN TILESET editor BETA! All in one!!!

I didn't try it yet... I'm not much into dev anymore... But I did take a look at the screenshots and I was wondering... there are 2 different small-asteroid tiles ... SSME could only place 1 while SSLE had the 2 different... Does this program allows you to place both?

The purpose to this is for when you need small animated tiles alot of places in a map. Instead of having to create lvz images and place them, you can just modify over1.bm2 and over3.bm2 (small asteroid graphics) to have 2 different available animated tiles...

Of course, now that the placement of lvz images is made much easier than in the old NotePad days, that may seem less useful ; but I still think it could be useful to have that 2nd small asteroid (if, of course, it's not already available... since I didn't try the program, but the screenshot shows only 1 available) and I think it would be quite simple to include this.

Anywayz, good job on this... I wish I still had time for dev work, no more fecking painful notepad editing... (or Excel when you had to tile the same image 150 times :S )

The reason there is a 2nd small asteriod is that VIE removed the large asteriod. You're right that it may seem useful to have the option to easily make a repeated animation, but I hope to allow the user to copy/paste both tiles and lvz in the same selection in a future release(instead of just tiles), allowing for the same effect without using a 2nd asteroid. Have to add layers first... so people woudln't copy background lvz if they're zone has it.

Update 7-23-05:

Got a new version up on http://rshl.org/!@#$%^&*

I added several new features for selections including, flipping the selection, rotating (specify any angle you want, like 22.45 degrees), retiling the selection (swapping tiles), appling the EZ tileset to the selection (so that you can draw your map in one tile, then apply the EZ tileset and have it look pretty), and random fill by percent (so you can fill the selection with the current tile randomly, like 10% will make 1 in 10 tiles the current selected tile).

Also added support for the extra continuum tiles, defined here. The EZ Tool is now a tile in the tileset. I added line, square, and squarefill tools too.

I also got Undo/Redo working for changes in the selection, map, and lvz. Doing it for things like import lvz or regions is possible in the future, but in my opinion a waste of coding time since undoing these actions is trivial and rare. There are 100 levels of undo / redo.

This version also includes many bug fixes, and uses the Cross Platform LVZ Toolkit so in theory it will work on older versions of Windows and maybe even Linux.

After a few weeks, this will be the release version (to make sure any bugs I've introduced get fixed).

Hm, I can't erase special tiles with the eraser...

And is there any way to delete a whole section of tiles? You can select them with the selection tool, but then.. can you erase what you selected?

EDIT: ok, you can 'cut' , ... it works.. but it would be great to see the 'delete' key working

The Apply EZ Tiles inside selection tool doesn't seem to always work... I was trying it and it wasn't working... then it was working, but only applied changes when i unselected the tiles...

A circle/filled circle tool would be nice too...

Also, if you hold shift while creating a rectangle, it should be forced to square (as an ellipse should be forced to a circle if you include the circle feature)

That's what I had to say... very nice work man :dualthumb:

Aside from compressing well, I like the tool it uses, and the s!@#$%^&* integration is nifty

So you want to force people to use new formats? Bah.

Anyway, what if you're not serious about making lvz. Can only super-serious-lvz-junkies use your program? What if some newbie just wants to have his first go at lvz and a cool map editor...

Better formats? WinRAR compressed !@#$%^&* to 2108kB

7-zip compressed it to 2075kB, but took about 2x the time...

so that's... 33kB

...

about 1.5% ... wow, big deal blum.gif

If you really want to keep your .7z file available, I suggest you propose 2 links , one for .7z file and the other for .rar or .zip ...
