DJ muppetmaster Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 OK, heres my prob, for starters, i have a decent computer, Amd athlon xp 1700+ processor, and an Nvidia riva tnt2 md64 32 mg gfx card, my computer has never let me down in the past however, i started experiencing massive lag and packetloss on my 1mb broadband connection. I !@#$%^&*umed it was my gfx card drivers since i had trouble with it on my WinXP comp, so i looked for the drivers specific for my gfx card and installed them, it worked fine on desktop, then when i ran continuum it went crazy, i went into metal gear ctf and there was a black translucent thing over the game which kept on moving up and downover the game it was visible through it but not gr8 i tryed other zones i went into trench wars and the problem was there except even worse, the black thing was completely covering 75% of the screen from down to up, and what was worse i couldnt even see through it, however, i manged to steer myself to the safety zone at the side and the black moving thing allowed me to see the rest of the screen again, but kept on flicking from the picture to the black thing, im sure its a bug as on the black thing i can see the backgrounds stars on it, but only the ones that are not bm2 files in the gfx folder, i have tried lower res, lower colour depth, and even installing the latest direct x and nothing is working, if u can help please do in anyway possible.... thanx-DJ muppetmaster- Quote
»Maverick Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 You have used in total one enter / line return in your post. Can you add some more? Try to reinstall continuum, it might be a corrupt installation. I think if that is not the problem then it might be hardware related - or if someone else knows the solution? -MMaverick Quote
DJ muppetmaster Posted July 25, 2004 Author Report Posted July 25, 2004 the installation is fine its worked fine for ages, ive managed to sort out the lag issue by overclocking with my processor but i cant sort out the gfx, i can also see the game perfect in windowed mode, however this slows it down considerably, thanx for replying-DJ muppetmaster- Quote
Himura Kenshin Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 try running a lower color depth if your using 32bit mg wont work for you since you cans ee alot of extra unneeded color. Quote
DJ muppetmaster Posted July 25, 2004 Author Report Posted July 25, 2004 Tried it, the cards worked before, read the whole post Quote
Bargeld Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Try "avoid page flipping" and "no framerate limit" in the game's advanced options. Quote
BG Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 I got this problem constantly - But only when logged into Admin on my computer, all other users had no problems. Maybe it just depends on user config. But -*BAD WORD*-, I don't know anything. Quote
DJ muppetmaster Posted July 26, 2004 Author Report Posted July 26, 2004 ok, i think ive sorted it, only i got another problem which has been annoying me for ages, ive got two hard drives on one computer and i got windows xp on one, i played continuum on my xp 1 for ages, suddenly for some reason the thing didnt start anymore and the cursor changed to a busy hourgl!@#$%^&*, i tried ctrl alt and del and saw the continuum program jumping up and down the listi tried ending the process but all i get is "This operation is invalid for its purpose"and then it carrys on doing it and eventually freezes up my comp evry timei try and close it but have to restart to stop it,i thought it might be a corrupt installation so i redownloaded it but it hasnt worked anyone know whats going on?Id be grateful if you could help-DJ muppetmaster- Quote

MasterDrake Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Unintall the game, make sure all the folders that are left behind after usual uninstalls are gone. Time to do a little maintence make sure your copy of xp is fully up to date www.windowsupdate.com there might be a new direct x driver your missing, update your drivers if there are any for graphic card and your sound card and any other hardware. Do a disk defragment on your hard drive it sound like the first hd has the xp par!@#$%^&*ion on it so it will take a while for both hard drives. Check for any spyware anything that may just cause a -*BAD WORD*- up in your computer also a anitvirus scan. Then try reinstalling the game and running it. Preop maintence does a wonder I recommend Norton Systematic 2004 it does pretty much everything you want at very good time if you leave your pc on all day like me. Mine schedules operations for when I am not at home its great. Quote
MasterDrake Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 o and how much ram you got in that baby sometimes that will cause errors due to it being full up son Quote

Overclocking your processor might cause software and hardware failures at places you never expect it to fail. Set your processor to its normal rate and then check if the problem resolves. -MMaverick Quote
