pen expers Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Hi, I havent posted here before, and I don't usually talk much in the zone, but recently ScoreBot has been repeatedly changing my team. Just now it did so 4 times in about 45 minutes. This usually happens every day. Obviosly this is super irritating, even more so when less then 5 seconds after changing my team it complains that...the teams are unbalanced again. Or when it changes me to the losing team, 5 seconds before the wining goal. I don't know what idiot programmed ScoreBot, but is there some way to reduce its 'zealosness', so that it either 1) gives players more time to change teams of their own will, especially when team imbalances are caused by people repeatedly joining/leaving (whats with that anyway?)2) doesnt pick the same player for changing teams more than once, at least in a single game3) doesnt keep changing its mind about team imbalances (17th doesnt get many players during the day, the teams usually ARE imbalanced, I don't need bloody ScoreBot telling me every 30 seconds). It will be changed so that the last one that died on your team gets evened.But because I am going on vacation on monday it will be prosponed to august. Didn't you program it Mav? Whoever did was silly. There was never any proper need for score bot to change teams. the only time a change should happen is when there is 3 or more people on one side than the other. One or two isn't going to make a major difference and usually those 1 or 2 will lag out or something. Quote

It is hosting rumble 24/7 and alot of players play that. The team evener bot just keeps the teams more even then the server can. It is here so it won't be less possible to have soccer matches 10 vs 4 which no one enjoys. As I say more times, bots are here to help us - not to replace anyone or to do any harm. Just like staff they are to help the players. The current team evener bot is going to do be changed because of that - it did not good. But it will do that once its changed. -MMaverick Quote

Well, depends how you look at it.The zone was at its peak when there were no bots, so obviously if you look at it from that perspective, what you said isn't true.Then on the other hand, back in the days we had plently of good and active hosts who hosted a lot and a lot of different events (+ half the zone played events), things have changed, we don't have that kind of people anymore, so if we didn't have any bots, we'd probably have a lot less things hosted, atleast correctly. But if you ask me I'd rather have it the way it was: no bots (unless completely necessary) but lots of good hosts. -Delic, remembers when we had atleast 45 of non-stop event hosting (not just rumble or jav events) with atleast 25 people coming to every event, sniff.
