Friend has a problem

Ok look, here's the 411. I have a new computer, I first downloaded CTM .38. I cannot play any zones with that version, because for instance, I click to play in Red Star and it starts downloading the map and after 40% it auto alt-tabs out and says Error: Unable to create zone\RedStar\oldmap2.lvl I have no idea why. I downloaded .38 the same way i usually have, and it didnt say that .39 was required to play Red Star which would have been the only explanation I understood. Anyways, I then go download .39 and when Im extracting it into C:\Program Files\Continuum it says there's a password needed and says

" If this [zipped]Folder contains any protected files, please provide the password" ..now I sure as -*BAD WORD*- didnt set a password that I would need to know so does anyone think they can help me here.

try a fresh install using the web installer on www.sscentral.com

It could also be a permissions problem for the location you are installing it. If the computer's administrator has disallowed permissions to write within the directories in question, then you won't be able to download any new zones/graphics/etc.
