Dav Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 this sounds really wierd. What is your OSDO you have any problems at all with other software? Quote
Himura Kenshin Posted July 16, 2004 Author Report Posted July 16, 2004 nope only happens when i play games + this doesnt matter getting a new computer soon Quote
»ZiGNoTZaG Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 vibrating? must be a fan. a) a sensor is screwed up. b)your cpu heatsink is clogged with dust. and your cpu is overheating. Quote
Himura Kenshin Posted July 16, 2004 Author Report Posted July 16, 2004 but it only happens when i play games that take up the screen Quote
»ZiGNoTZaG Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 games that take up th screen also tend to be the main producers of heat...since they are basically constantly looping once running. i personly cant see ss overheating a cpu, a pos video card might get hot, in a zone with lots or lvz going on. maybe your video card has a fan? and your card is overheating. so its fan is like going up to 10,000 rpm and shaking your whole MB, and your nic card is loose so when it vibrates your cards connection is getting weak signals. hehehe...lol open up the case, and look. make sure all cards are pressed in firmly...etc etc... look for huge mounds of dust by the cpu. a vibrating pc that lags you out......sweet $ Quote
MikeTheNose Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 a vibrating pc that lags you out......sweet $Yeah, one could basically believe that the friction alone can cause one signal loss due to a 1 changing to a 0 Quote
Himura Kenshin Posted July 16, 2004 Author Report Posted July 16, 2004 well its not like vibrating hard but you can hear a difference inside the ocmputer when i play a game it like goes from a noisless system to one that gives like alot of humming i dont think my fans are dieng out on me yet =/ and i didnt see any lose components and i took out all dust and still does it Quote
Guest bicepo Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 ya, I believe there is a crash, power off issue with ATI cards or newer computer models but SS is the cause of my problem somehow. My system is nearly brand new XP Toshiba Satellite 2.9gig 512 ram. (As I mentioned in an earlier topic)The game is awesome but it played better on my old 100mhz P1 years ago. I too have reloaded subspace, sure to have all the drivers, checked and unchecked all option boxes in ss and still my system goes off completely with no notice while I play. It happened before but happens more now with the new .39.1 prerelease. Anyone else have a newer Toshiba Satellite and know what this is?I tell ya it feels to me like it actually harms my computer - shuttin it off so abruptly. It's like hitting a brick wall in a car while your sleeping. Paying near 3000 for a state of the art computer and then reaching for my old friend - SS - I am flabergasted as to why this occurs. It's really frustrating because the game is so awesome and addicting. As I start to rack up some more kills and points - blamo - off it goes!No VirusesNo Messengers1400 windows res, play at 1280 in Trench WarsExperimented and changed all options and advanced options to no availplayed in windowturned screen saver off, hibernate offturned all stars and effects off still a problem Quote
