Samapico Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 It would be useful to have a %date tag. A common use I see to this would be for easier automatic logging... For example, I have ?log in the 'automessage' box (and I know other people do that too), but then, the log file keeps getting bigger and bigger to a point where it's unopenable (if that word doesn't exist yet, I put a copyright on it). I have to rename the session.log file once in a while... and archiving logs becomes a real pain... Therefore, if there was a %date tag, it would be possible to log everything automatically by having ?log %date in the automessage box. A %time could also be useful to have a different file for each time you enter the game, even in the same day... Maybe also have different tags for different formats... like... with multiple tags:%yyyy-%mm-%ddor%mm-%dd-%yy ... anyway, there's alot of possibilities... but either way it would make archiving of logs much easier and accessible.
FIX Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Thinking about Commands, it would be useful to have a %ticksquad, aswell as the %tickname command, just a suggestion. -liq
Naedhaha Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Thinking about Commands, it would be useful to have a %ticksquad, aswell as the %tickname command, just a suggestion. -liqthat would be the # button...but you have to be in the squad
FIX Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 .... i didnt mean PM, i meant so you can choose a player in your statsbox, type %ticksquad, and it will show that players squad. you think im some kind of re-*BAD WORD*-.
»D1st0rt Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I break my logs up by month so they never get too big
Dr Brain Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I use ?log auto%freq.log. On spec freq, %freq generates a random number. Then I sort my log folder by date or search it for a keyword. BUT %date and %time would be infinitly nicer.
Smong Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 It would be easier to add something to the webinstaller so every time you ran it, it would see if a new month has arrived and move the contents of the log folder to log/yy-mm. @liquidizeI get what you're saying. But I once saw a bot say in a spree message 'what kind of squad is %squad% anyway?', the player wasn't in a any squad.
Agent Smith Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 This is a logmaker prog from a friends friend, works very well, and all you have to do is double click Logmaker.exe, (which is cont .38) and checkmark the name you want to log on, and start the game, this program automatically sets the date every time you start continuum and sorts the logs by [yyyy.mm.dd] into your logs folder, only thing you have to do is rename the file's extension to .log Enjoy.
Samapico Posted July 17, 2004 Author Report Posted July 17, 2004 w00t it works great! I noticed that it replaces the first line of the 'automessage' box though... I had ?loadmacro 17th\?log\?chatand after starting the program I had ?log 17.7.2004\?log\?chat... but I just had to change the order to ?log 17.7.2004\?loadmacro 17th\?chat anyway... works fine <_< thanks edit:Just a small problem... it creates files with no extensions... edit2: oh.. but since windows sees '2004' as the extension, I'll just tell him to always open '2004' files with notepad... oh well it's not such a problem in that case... I thought I'd have to specify which program to use everytime I wanted to open a log file
Agent Smith Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Just make a daily thing about it, just add ".log" after 2004
Samapico Posted July 26, 2004 Author Report Posted July 26, 2004 Just make a daily thing about it, just add ".log" after 2004 that means renaming alot of files... naaaah, too much trouble... having windows open up .2004 files in notepad works fine
FIX Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 just had another idea, %arenaname would be nice, say if ur hosting an event etc, *arena Welcome to %arenaname. or whatever else you would use it for..
Miesco Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Yea, while your at it, add an if statement for macros, it would be like//%if %red != "" (Checking for red... Success: %red)
BG Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 that would be the # button...but you have to be in the squadActually, You can use that with any squad - Only the squad sees it.You only have to be in the RECIEVING squad to see it, Many TW squads use this as taunting, etc.Example: Person1 Squad1>:#squad2:ahahahahaha u r teh suxAll people in Squad2 will see it.Person1 Squad1>:#squad1: lol i msg every1 in squad. All people in Squad 1, INCLUDING person1 will see it. I apoligise if that doesn't make any sense. But I'm kinda going without sleep.
Samapico Posted July 30, 2004 Author Report Posted July 30, 2004 It does make sense. What I don't like about the :#squad: messaging is that the receiving persons often think it's a PM and replys you with :: , and they think they're the only person who received it, and sometimes it makes no sense, and sometimes they reply you with something that makes sense, and you have to re-send it via a chat or another :#squad: message and it's like... irritating... but.. oh well, that's life.......... Squad messages should be another color...

Eccentric Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 The LogMaker program was made by a friend of mine, he was kind enough to make it for me when I told him how it can be done and how much I hate to write the log names. (I'm too lazy to do it ) It's a very simple program really. It's funny how you guys say that you need to add .log extention. You don't have to do it. All you need to do is WRITE the .log or whatever extention you want after the year.mm.dd (or whatever date format you choose) You could write there something like dd.mm.yy.log which would show day first, then month, then year with 2 digits and the .log extention. Like 16.02.05.log Some instructions were written in README.txt but I guess no one reads those I suggest you read atleast the basic steps how to use it. The program launches automatically Continuum.exe in the same folder. So if you use it with pr.0.39 then just rename the 0.39 exe file to Continuum.exe and it works just as well with it. Anyway, I put the program here: http://www.cs.uku.fi/~pietarin/LogMaker.zip There is one small bug. If you use it to log for a name that you have in two or more profiles it doesn't work. edit: the LogMaker program pinned over here is the OLD version. I guess you couldn't use the extentions because of that. hehe. Throw that one away

Anyways, as you can see the program has been fixed and spread over the community ... Say thanks to your buddy from me next time you see him
