Heh, maturity is definitely something needed in order to be a moderator. But age is not, they can be separate. The whole of SubSpace is ran by... kids, as a general rule. Crusty old guys like Ninja either don't play, or if they do, have jobs and don't want/have the time to run a zone, or even mod it.

Now in Charcoal's defense, he knows what he's doing when it comes to staff, and he does it without looking dumb or making anyone else look dumb. In this particular case I think Char would be fine as a mod here, he might exploit bugs and speed hack or whatever else now, but if he was a mod he'd be too protective of his position.... As it is now, all he has to lose if he gets caught is the money that he got doing it. Even if he got away with it, instead of suspecting him of cheating, they'd suspect him of abusing ?grants. He knows this, and he wouldn't bother. Besides, I think he does it so he has something to show off, and why do you need cash if you're a mod and you control everyone else's?

Not that I'm saying Charcoal needs to be made a mod. In response to the statements about how people who ask for mod position won't get given mod, that's not true. The only person I ever hired asked for mod position. Although, they also showed me an awesome arena.... And for the rest of DS, we've had... at least 5 mods recently that were hired because they were asked to be. That may also have to do with the fact that the zone owner has been drunk for the past 10 days straight. Myself, I was hired at DS after asking to be. But then again, this was also after being asked to join staff and turning it down a couple months prior. I think the reasoning behind people not getting staff that ask is because they look like an eager noob trying to get power, while everyone the zone's staff thinks is competent while they're looking for mods is already staffed there. If they're not looking for mods, you're probably not going to get in, are you? Still, though.... as a general rule, those guys were right. You probably won't get made mod. Desperate? Go searching one of the lesser known zones on the lesser known servers. It's fairly easy then.

Lets evaluate.

Picano: Cat girls anyone?

Nikon: Disapeared for 3+ months. God only knows where he went.

Nerusai: I drove him to insanity. Go me.

Funk: Likes to drink people under the table.

NiKe: Lol.

Mook: Anyone who thinks that ferrets don't smell is weird.

D1st0rt: Nuff Said.

Wargh: Plays underwater hockey.

Coenny:

Quigybobo: Hasn't slept in two weeks.

Fat Cat: Just a matter of time.

And me: Anyone who makes a blog out of a forum should be shot. Oh, and have you seen some of the maps I've made? Ugh!

Still want to work for Hyperspace? I thought not. Have a nice day.

I think these two quotes best sum up doc...

Dr Brain> There are too many thing currently happenning in my life for me to care about girls.

Dr Brain> I have them all [in reference to the Nike Collectors Cards Idea]

Age means something. It's closely tied to maturity, much as some will deny this.

We will do our very best to hire mature and capable individuals. That rules you, t2d, right out. Sorry. It also instantly rules many others out. Charcoal included.

While I no longer control the hiring process, I do know what I look for in a moderator. Someone who asks for staff is probably going to be turned down. Only exception is when we ask for applications. Quite frequently, we have someone in mind when we ask for the apps, and ask them anyway when they don't submit one. I assume that's how Neru handled Fat Cat.

Translation from Hypocrappish:

I only hire people who will worpship me like a god and obey me blindly and are generaly within my circle of friends, who as said, kiss my -*BAD WORD*-.

I have completely and utterly no clue as to how administering a game or a staff panel, I just like to walk around with the fancy sysop cape and show off, even though I am hardly ever, which means never, around the game itself or do anything for it, as said that is what I got my butt monkeys for.

P.S.

I am 17 years old.

Is it just me or is Gravi getting more bitter the more he reads this forum smile.gif

But yeah the staff has been summed up well, except I honestly don't drink a lot...but when I do it's usually a nice mix of Rye and Hatred...I mean Coke

My cat is well and alive, infact it's sleeping near me right now.

I don't hate him, I dislike him, there's a difference.

I just tend to despise that which is not right.

Actually, I agree with Lan. Not only the staff, but the entire population, at least the ones that matter, are very quirky. That's what makes the zone so great. Personally, I think the zone itself really sucks, and in many ways, are completely noobish, what with the horrible unbalance and the supership settings. But, it has a nice idea behind it, and it works, and across the whole of SS it's rare you find anything better. I dare any of the rest of you that would complain about the zone to make a better one. That includes you, Grav. When they do work, they're very good at it, and they try to keep people happy. Maybe they're a bit picky in doing this, but as a general rule, they understand the human element of the zone, which isn't something I see zone staff do. Brain's managed to create a zone that's largely friendly and a great place to hang out. The only complaint I really have is that the mods should be quicker to use their silences and bans on people like Grav and anyone else who's gonna come disrupt the peace.

Gee, making administrating games's servers...been there, done that, next.

And be my guest, ban your entire population out, I would love to see that.

A(i)D(s), why don't you go back to your little church of stalin and kill anyone who disagrees with you, hmmkay?

Yes, I know, the truth burns, much easier to be the likes of you and stay under some pink bubble while kissing -*BAD WORD*- and conforming.

Thank your god for people like me who actually taking care to make sure the sky won't fall and the world crash down on your apathic bum -*BAD WORD*- and thick skull.

You just worry about not doing the minimal and going to vote in the elections, as you always do, as to have others elected do the worrying and work and caring for you so you can just keep bumming in your sofa and watch TV care-free.
